Buying a gift for a golfer is a tricky thing to get right because quite frankly, there is a lot of rubbish golf gear out there especially if we go down the rabbit hole of accessories. I cannot tell you how disappointing it is to receive a towel with a vague 'golf theme' to it, or something with a blatantly unfunny golf joke written on it.

Well to help you out I have written this guide on the best golf gifts which collates my my favorite deals, sales, and gift ideas all into one place. I am reasonably certain that the golfer in your life will enjoy all of the options I have selected below.

Reasons to avoid

You will need to make sure you have a flat floor with enough space to lay the mat

The easiest way to get in valuable practice time that will lead to shots being sliced off your handicap is by working on your putting. We use our putter more than any club in the bag and play more shots on the green than any other part of the golf course, so investing in a helpful putting match can revolutionize your game.

The Perfect Practice Perfect Putting Mat is dead easy to set up with the mat itself attached to the raised, wooden end part with two holes, both of different size, at the top of the slope.

In testing, the channel worked really well and, for more convenience, you can remove one of the slats when practicing the shorter putts. I felt that this could be one of the best golf training aids money can buy, with the mat working very well on both a tiled (kitchen) floor and carpeted floor. I should add that you must be careful with the way you store this item and take care when unrolling it. If you store it correctly, you should be able to get a smooth, consistent roll for many years.

One of testers David Usher spent a lot of time of the last winter using the mat, saying specifically; 'I can’t recommend it highly enough. I still occasionally set it up if I’ve been struggling with three or four footers as it helps massively with repetition of stroke and confidence building.'

Best glove

Reasons to avoid

Glove does come up slightly small

Ensure golfers get a consistent grip every time with the True Grip Glove from Me And My Golf. Holding the golf club correctly is a crucial starting point to a successful golf game and this glove can help achieve just that. I actually think it is one of the best small golf gifts you can buy at the moment.

The glove is designed to help you create a neutral grip on the golf club thanks to blue silicone areas of the glove telling you where to put your fingers. This can help correct any bad habits or tendencies that are all to easily creep into our setup without us even knowing.

The visual feedback provided can help eliminate flaws from your grip while the glove itself conforms to the rules of golf meaning you can wear this during a competition round for extra practice. The glove can come up slightly small but it does stretch well so I would recommend ordering to your usual sizing.

Limited off-course functionality

A GPS device is a must these days because there is no excuse for getting the wrong yardage when out on the course. A good way of dealing with this problem is a yardage device and, one of the best golf watches available is the Approach S12 from Garmin. It comes in at a slightly lower price point than a lot of other models on the market and as such, given the performance, there is clear value to be had here.

One of the reasons GPS watches have become so popular is that they can be worn on and off the golf course, doubling up as a neat sports-style watch when not on the course. The S12 is a perfect example of the growing popularity. It comes with more than 40,000 preloaded courses and finding your venue is quick and easy. Once on the links it provides distance to the front, middle and back of the green as well as hazards and other features like ponds and bunkers. It also helps with potential layup yardages and the pin on each green is movable so you can get an accurate reading to the flag from wherever on the hole.

Another performance aspect I really liked was the measure-shot feature that does as you'd expect - it tracks how far you've struck a given shot. It's also really easy to input scores and a few stats at the end of each hole, giving golfers an idea of what they've done well and perhaps not so well after the round. Finally, Big-Numbers mode, coupled with the sunlight-readable dial, is great for those whose eyesight maybe isn't what it once was, and I think it looks pretty stylish too.

Best mid-price watch

Provides GPS distances and seamless shot tracking for performance analysis

Specifications

Courses preloaded: 36,000+

Screen size: 1.2"
Weight: 50g
Straps: One

Reasons to buy

+
All the features of the X5 for $50 cheaper
+
I preferred the button operation to the touchscreen
+
The strokes gained data is exceptionally useful

Reasons to avoid

-
Only comes with one strap color option

A great mid-price option is the V5 from Shot Scope, which is arguably a bit sleeker and offers more off-course appeal than the previous V3 model. Thankfully, none of the shot tracking capability has been lost in this quest.

GPS information is accurate and other features include a green preview, different yardages to hazards including how far to reach and carry as well as the movable pin feature we also saw on the S12. Shot distance measurement is useful, while there is also information on doglegs and lay up distances plus the ability to add penalty shots to your scorecard.

Overall the performance in our testing was very impressive. The V5 takes around 20 seconds to locate the course once you arrive which is pretty good and we liked the improved button navigation which was a lot less fiddly then previous Shot Scope models. I certainly feel it can help the user improve decision-making and club selection and of course the price also makes it an appealing model to consider.

I’m clutching at straws here but maybe could have a slightly more premium aesthetic

Gone are the days in which rangefinders are simply small telescopes that pump out a number when you aim at your target and press a button - now the best devices come with some cutting edge technology that can take your pre-shot planning to another level. The Titan Elite from Precision Pro integrates with the Precision Pro Golf app to provide the user access to a multitude of cool features. One of these features is a slope mode that can actually sync up with MySlope to personalize the slope measurement to your particular ball flight. This is really high end tech and this is a truly unique rangefinder that has cutting edge technology at its core.

The display is impressive and features a visual target lock feature that gave us lightning quick feedback with no lag times. The zapping process was easy, largely due to the pulse vibration and ripple effect around the reticle. The Titan has 6x magnification, which seems to be pretty standard with the top models these days.

Another useful feature is the Find My Precision Pro, which will send you a notification if you happen to leave your rangefinder behind or lose it on the course. This is invaluable as it will save you a lot of time retracing your steps and will lead you right to it. On that note, the connection to the app itself is probably the simplest we have experienced on a device of this type.

Best ball

How Titleist 'Used Every Tool In The Toolbox' To Enhance The New Pro V1 And Pro V1x Golf Balls

Arguably the most universally loved golf gift

Specifications

Construction: Three-piece
Colors: 2 (White & Yellow)

Reasons to buy

+
Excellent tee-to-green performance
+
Improved distance, particularly with the mid irons
+
Strong ball flight

Reasons to avoid

-
Low spin players may get better performance from the Pro V1x

Every golfer out there knows the Pro V1 name, and there is a good reason why. This ball from Titleist has been atop the golf ball tree for decades and the 2025 edition here continues that trend.

In our testing it delivered a soft, responsive feel whilst providing a little extra distance from the tee that will be well received by regular users. The ball flight was consistent and stable, and it was also noticeably strong in windy conditions as well. Additionally this is a ball that shines with approach shots but performs brilliantly throughout the bag - it will be hard to find a better performing golf ball in 2025.

As such, the Pro V1 was a no-brainer inclusion in this gift guide and I am confident any golfer will light up when opening their present to see a dozen of these balls. Tell them to try and not lose them quickly though...

Our favorite bag

Ping Moonlander Stand Bag review

An excellent, lightweight golf bag that will stand out from the crowd

Specifications

Weight: 2kg/4.5lbs
Pockets: 6
Waterproof: Not fully
Colors: 7

Reasons to buy

+
Incredibly lightweight
+
Well positioned and well proportioned pockets
+
Spacious four-way top, despite the bag's relatively small size

Reasons to avoid

-
Missing a full length apparel pocket

The brand of our favorite bag for this gift guide may not surprise you given the quality of Ping bags, but the model may raise some eyebrows - no, it's not the Ping Hoofer (that's our best all-rounder in our best stand bags guide). It's actually the Ping Moonlander, a new lightweight golf bag that does everything you could ask of a lightweight model.

This bag is certainly one for the dedicated walking golfer. It is superbly lightweight at just 4.5 lbs (2kg) and comes with an excellent double strap which will make it easy for to carry. There are plenty of pockets for the accessories he will need on the course, whilst the four-way divider offered surprising space for all 14 clubs to go in the bag.

Additionally if you want your golfer to stand out a bit then there are seven really cool colorways to choose from, with the camo (which we tested) and the white design with the Mr. Ping logo scattered over it a really nice change of pace from the block colors we see all too often on bags from multiple brands. Finally given the performance the price of this bag offers excellent value and plenty of bang for your buck.

Weight: 7.6kg
Material: Aluminium
Colors: 7 (Grey & Green, Green, Red & Blue, Red & Black, Silver & Black, Black, Black & Red)

Reasons to buy

+
Folds down easily and compactly
+
Well thought out storage areas for water bottle and phone
+
Very little bag twisting over rough terrain

Reasons to avoid

-
Wheels perhaps could have been bigger

Not all golfer's want to carry their bag on their back and there is no doubt that having a push or electric trolley can help save their back and shoulders a bit for those final few holes on the back nine, especially if you're carrying in hot, sunny weather.

Enter the Bag Boy Nitron which is our top pick in our best push carts guide. It is very lightweight and compact when folded down which is ideal for transportation, and I liked how the wheels can be easily taken off and put back on which aids storage.

Crucially, the Nitron isn't as heavy or bulky as other similar carts on the market and also has a number of features which you won't find on other models. Some of the features I enjoyed were the integrated beverage holder, golf ball storage, handle-mounted parking brake, mobile device holder and bungee straps that secure the golf bag with ease, making this incredible value.

Most comfortable shoes

FootJoy Quantum Golf Shoe Review

A triumph in 'cloud like comfort'

Specifications

Sizes: 6-14
Waterproof: Yes
BOA Option: No
Colors: 4 (White/Blue/Pink, Grey/White/Blue, Navy/White/Lime, White/Grey)

Reasons to buy

+
Class-leading comfort under foot
+
Soft, premium upper adds to the all around comfort
+
Versatile outsole can be worn on and off course

Reasons to avoid

-
Neither here not there from a style perspective

If the person you are buying for needs a new pair of golf shoes then the Quantum shoe from FootJoy is well worth consideration. Why? Well in our testing it really set the bar from a comfort standpoint thanks to the Ortholite Impression FitBed, which provides step-in comfort and moulds over time to the shape of your foot for what eventually becomes a 'customized' fit.

Along with the FitBed, FootJoy has provided the shoe with plenty of cushioning underfoot, as well as SofFoam technology in and around the heel. It offered an awesome, cushioned feel and walking was a breeze in these shoes. Obviously these are spikeless so stability is compromised a bit in the wet, but as I said, if comfort is king, then you would find it hard to find a better pair.

We think many will enjoy the styling of the shoe as well. I think it walks that line between athletic golf shoe, and a sneaker style which does aids its versatility.

This is where the ClubGlider Meridian Travel Cover from Sun Mountain comes in because it will protect golf clubs and gear throughout the trials and tribulations of travel.

The padding around the top of the bag is very thick and should mean that there are no accidents with your driver and fairway woods. The bag also comes with two spacious outside pockets, one on either side, that can easily house jackets, coats, jumpers or anything else you see fit to put in there for easy access. Inside the bag, there are two straps to keep your golf bag secured and there’s enough room for plenty more too. Overall I loved this model and I think you will too.

The ideal garment to deal with tough weather conditions

Just the one color

Having a good rain jacket will be vital for all golfers, and one of the absolute best right now is the Rain Walker from Peter Millar. We have tested jackets like this for years and it is a step up in terms of performance.

It’s all-new construction is windproof, waterproof and exceptionally breathable, with the give in the material adding to the comfort and ease of movement. There are three layers including a hydrophilic membrane which allows moisture to escape. The external surface is water repellent, and the latest improvements in seam technology mean that the stitching is robust and reliable.

We found both comfort and maneuverability while playing to be first-class, and it even comes with a waterproof bucket hat. We love the way that the overall look is so smart and understated, somehow classic and yet still modern at the same time.

Most sturdy net

Photo of the SimSpace Deluxe Practice Net

A handy device to help you practise at home

Specifications

Dimensions (m): 3 x 2.5 x 2.5
Material: Steel

Reasons to buy

+
The optional impact screen is excellent
+
Very sturdy and safe feeling
+
Indoor/Outdoor usage

Reasons to avoid

-
It is certainly a two-person job to assemble

This is a very premium net, hinted at in the name with the use of 'Deluxe'. I therefore had high expectations before testing it, but am happy to report that it very much delivered. My first impressions out of the box were the overall weight, it is rather heavy. The frame is constructed with robust materials whilst the netting feels exceptionally high quality, designed to withstand repeated high-speed impacts.

It does take up quite a lot of room compared to other options on this list and the weight can make handling a little tricky, but the weight also adds strength and durability to the net once set up, complimented by the steel frame.

Another highlight of this system is that it is designed for both indoor and outdoor use. With the Deluxe bundle you also get an impact screen. The quality of this screen is clear, and it delivers a very satisfying feel and sound upon impact. Unlike some cheaper nets that produce a loud thud, the SimSpace screen absorbs the impact with a more dampened acoustic

Finally it is worth saying the instructions are clear, and it's not overly complex to put up.

Best launch monitor bundle

Square Golf Simspace Bundle

A complete bundle which might be the most complete golf gift out there

Reasons to buy

+
Simple setup procedure
+
The speed of response is exceptional
+
Accurate data readings

Reasons to avoid

-
Could do with a protective case
-
Some won’t like needing to use balls provided for the best data readings

If you want to go for arguably the biggest golf gift you can give a golfer then a simulator bundle from Square Golf could be the best way to go. This model combines the Square Golf launch monitor, which is our favorite value model on the market at the moment, with a Simspace Enclosure like the one we have tested above.

In the bundle you get a comprehensive package featuring a Square Golf Launch Monitor, Swing Stick, Li-ion Battery, 3 x Square Golf Dotted Golf Balls, Dual-layer Impact Screen and all the construction pieces you need such as black metal poled, corner brackets and so on.

It is comprehensive in scope and will help golfers practise and have fun doing so at home. It is a totally immersive simulator experience and the accuracy of data is very impressive. Shot response time is excellent and the course offerings are well executed and challenging. The whole setup procedure couldn’t be easier.

How to choose a golf gift

There are a number of factors to consider when buying a golf gift for someone and this section will look to go into them all for you.

Gaps in their equipment

First things first, find out what gaps the golfer in your life has in their equipment setup. If you know they don't have a laser, or their bag is looking a bit old, then that narrows your focus in terms of gifts big time.

Gear they really want

Additionally I would recommend getting an understanding on gear they really want. I know we all want to give surprise gifts to see their faces when they open them but to find out what they really want you will need to ask them. You can then go searching for their wish list and that is a sure fire way to get them something they really want. Trust me, the world of golf has a lot of rubbish in it so sometimes it is worth sacrificing the surprise, to get them something they love.

If unsure of these things

However if you can't work out their gaps, or don't want to ask them for gift ideas, then I do think there are some universal gifts in the golf space which all golfers will like. For example all golfers need golf balls but even then you need to try and find out which model/brand they use most often. No I think a better way to go is clothing because then you just need to know their size for things like polo shirts, pants, hoodies and so on. I think golf shoes sits in this category as well.

Budget

Of course you need to think about your budget as well because golf, whilst having the stigma of being expensive, and don't get me wrong, it can be, there are actually pieces of golf gear at all price points these days. So therefore I think you need to work out your budget, and then tick off the factors above, so you can then choose a gift accordingly. This is why I've included different budget sections in this guide...

FAQs

What is the best gift to buy a golfer?

This is a tricky question to answer specifically because every single golfer will need or want something different for their setup. All I can say is if you are buying a gift for a golfer, try and have an understanding on what kind of equipment they use, do they use specific brands, are they a beginner or a proficient player because this will narrow your focus, are there any gaps in their setups that need filling?

If you find these questions tricky to answer, then there are some categories of gift that are kind of universal in their appeal. For example every golfer needs golf balls so I would find out what brand/model they use, and buy a dozen of those. Or maybe golf clothing or accessories are two other good options here as well. Whatever you decide, this gift guide has different suggestions for you, so happy gifting!
