Best Golf Rain Jackets 2026
Rain often strikes when we are out on the golf course so here are our favorite rain jackets so you can keep on playing your best.
Golf shouldn’t stop when the weather turns inclement, it is one of very few sports that can be played in pretty much any conditions. That being said, you must be prepared. No matter where you are playing, you should always have the best golf waterproofs to protect you from the elements.
Arguably the most important waterproof element to your golfing setup is the jacket because not only will a good model shelter you from the rain and wind, but it will also keep you comfortable despite the conditions. The best golf rain jackets do this to a high level thanks to high-tech fabrics and materials which repel the water away. Additionally a big signifier of a good golf jacket is how easy it is to move in. The golf swing is a fluid movement and being able to do it whilst wearing several layers is important, so the best models stretch and don't hinder the body or swing at all.
We also think the best golf waterproofs needs to provide a degree of protection from the wind, warmth in the cold, and also cool design features and colors that either stand out or aid versatility to be able to use the jacket off the course. Models these days should also be easy to wash if necessary too.
Bearing that in mind, we have put together a list of the best golf rain jackets out there right now. Alternatively if you need more golf gear when the weather gets cold and wet, check out our other guides on the best golf rain pants and best golf umbrellas too.

Having tested rain jackets for a number of years, I could immediately see that the Rain Walker jacket is a step up yet again. It’s construction is windproof, waterproof and exceptionally breathable, with the give in the material adding to the comfort and ease of movement. There are three layers including a hydrophilic membrane which allows moisture to escape. The external surface is water repellent, and the latest improvements in seam technology mean that the stitching is robust and reliable.
I found both comfort and maneuverability while playing to be first-class, and it even comes with a waterproof bucket hat. I love the way that the overall look is so smart and understated, somehow classic and yet still modern at the same time. I have owned many waterproof, lightweight golf jackets over the years, and I think this is quite simply the best one yet.

+ Looks great on and off the course
+ Premium feel materials
- Looser fit might not be to everyone’s preference
In testing, I felt that this was an ideal option for any golfer who is looking for a versatile rain jacket that can be worn both on and off the course, with the lightweight feel and comfort very impressive.
Not only is it premium to touch, but the wind and waterproof construction worked perfectly in the most severe conditions, as the fully taped seams and 2.5-layer bonded fabric repelled away any water from the body. Crucially, I found there to be plenty of freedom of movement throughout the swing and, thanks to additions like the zip-hand pockets and adjustable fit, the comfort almost felt like a second skin when tackling the course.

+ Outstanding protection from the elements
+ Adjustable cinch system for the perfect fit
- Limited colors available
This rain jacket provides incredible waterproof protection, even in the harshest of conditions, while also looking and feeling great thanks to its customisable fit and comfortable material. The dual cinch system means I can tailor the fit to my preference and specifications, helping me to play and look my best. The StaDry grip sleeve helps to keep your gear in perfect working order when the elements test your resolve, while the StaDry Select collar and fully bonded seams help to ensure you can play in comfort knowing that you are fully protected from the rain.
When offering 35,000mm waterproof protection, you might expect breathability and mobility to suffer, but that’s certainly not the case with the Select LX. Great for 18-holes and for everyday wear, this is easily the best waterproof jacket I have ever owned.

+ Total protection
+ Quiet fabric limits distractions
- Top end of price spectrum
I have tested a wide range of rain jackets over my time at Golf Monthly and one of the absolute best is the Sun Day Red 3L Rain Jacket, a model I recently got my hands on. Made from three layers of Polartec Powershield fabric, this jacket offers complete and total protection from adverse weather conditions, and yet is still lightweight and breathable too. Having tested in some tough conditions on and off the course, and even poured water on it to see what would happen, the jacket kept me dry and blocked wind out very well indeed. I also noted just how quiet this jacket was, which was a real design element Tiger Woods focused on. It barely makes a sound during the swing and it stretches seamlessly for unrestricted movement too. Finally I think it looks great, works comfortably with layers underneath, and it folds down well.

+ Great stretch properties
+ Can be worn on and off the course
- Styling fairly basic
The Z2000 might be the best golf jacket that I have ever put on, and here’s why. It delivers excellent waterproofing, wind resistance, and mobility, it looks fantastic with its sharp and elegant design and it's really comfortable to wear all day long. If you expect to play, walk, or even commute in persistent rain and demand gear that works without fuss, this jacket is built to perform.
Water beaded and ran off the shell reliably; at no point did moisture seep through seams or zippers keeping my clothing underneath warm and dry. Against wind, the shell fabric felt solid too.
Admittedly this jacket is more on the premium price end of the spectrum, but you will be getting a top-notch product that will not let you down out on the golf course or elsewhere when you have it on, and it will last you many, many years too.

+ Exceptional rain and wind protection
+ Stylish design
- Slim fit and no double zip
We've always loved Galvin Green products and, with the Ames, it's no different, as the new PFC-free three-layer fabric provides a stretchy feel. What's more, there's adjustable, elasticated Velcro cuffs, shaped sleeves, chest width tabs and a drawstring at the hem which work brilliantly to create a perfect fit.
Performance-wise, the fabric repelled water in severe downpours, with the droplets beading off almost instantly. Although it has a premium price tag, the Ames is certainly worth it and a worthwhile investment, especially as the design can be worn on and off the course.

+ Super lightweight
+ Zipped front pockets for secure storage
- Bold styling won’t suit all tastes
This outlandish jacket will serve you well on rainy outings by keeping the wet weather at bay and letting you swing with freedom. Water beads off the material with ease while the Velcro cuffs and elasticated waist allow for a customized, comfortable fit.
The zipped front pockets which meet in the middle provide secure storage or a place to rest your hands while the hood is a welcome addition to minimize distraction when putting in the rain.
It comes up on the large size, which is handy should you want to wear lots of layers underneath, but you might want to consider going down a size. Of course it stands out in the bright green finish pictured here, but there are a couple more colors to choose from, including a more understated black finish if you so choose.

- Not the best with only polo underneath
The DRYLBL Rain Jacket from Puma is a continuation of the performance I saw in the Ultradry jacket. Thanks to the 2.5 layer fabric, seam sealed design, and waterproof zips, the protection from this jacket was up there with some of the top models I have tested. Movement was also uninhibited and it felt lovely and light too, despite still offering a degree of warmth and breathability.
I also liked the adjustability on offer such as the Velcro cuffs so I could get the perfect fit, and another huge plus was the aesthetic because, whilst some may say it was a touch bland, we think it added to its versatility. This jacket can be used anywhere.

+ 2-year warranty
+ Attractive design
- If you want more pockets than two pockets in a jacket.
This is a very solid product from Callaway Apparel. The design is both trendy and practical, with excellent colorways alongside design features implemented specifically for golfers. These include a ribbed collar that should reduce drips dropping down the back of your neck, as well as adjustable wrist cuffs that again will help keep the moisture out. The jacket comes with a 2-year warranty and Callaway are confident this is not something you will need as this product is highly tested.
For some you may want a thicker coat option, if you are not a fan of layering, while there is no internal pockets for valuables, so you will need to rely on your golf bag for them. But this is a very solid option for anyone looking for a trendy jacket, from a well-known golf brand that will keep you dry.

+ Delivers on waterproof and windproof claims
+ eVent fabric is breathable but offers impressive insulation
- Only one back pocket
If you're looking for a specialist weatherproof golf jacket, the Full Zip Waterproof Links Golf Jacket from HLINC has to be under serious consideration. It is truly weatherproof - even in the toughest of conditions - and offers impressive insulation, too. In addition, it’s comfortable, non-intrusive while playing and features a couple of clever assets to boost its desirability.
As well as being highly practical, the sleek and smart aesthetic allows the Links Golf Jacket to be worn away from the golf course, which is an important factor to consider for the modern day golfer. In terms of marginal down sides, it is only available in one color (for now, navy to come) and it would be ideal if there was a second back pocket, but overall it is a fantastic specialist jacket which should be considered as one of the best around.

+ Top notch waterproofing
+ Cinch system for the perfect fit
- You can become very warm
ProQuip’s Ultimate HTX Rain Jacket is performing at the top end of its chosen profession – it does a brilliant job of repelling moisture in even the most intense and sustained deluges. The soft-touch, four-way stretch fabric – which is covered by a three-year guarantee – combined with taped seams and waterproof zips prevents any water ingress in a persistent downpour. My only wet-weather gripe is that the fabric cuffs that protrude outside of the adjustable storm-cuffs do eventually get wetted-out.
The Ultimate HTX has another in-built quality - extra warmth thanks to a metallic lining akin to a heat blanket that reflects your torso’s heat back onto you. The flipside of that is that in more mellow temperature downpours the HTX actually works too well. Fit is good, with no restriction of movement and the fabric is quiet.

+ Lightweight and ‘quiet’ material
+ Windproof as well as waterproof
- Side pocket zips can catch material
The Ping SensorDry AquaDrive jacket is a premium offering that sits in the very top tier. Worn by the brand’s tour professionals, its modern, stylish design is sure to make this a very popular autumn/winter jacket for those golfers who like to play all year round. In testing the protection was good in the rain as well as the wind, and because it’s so light, you can add several layers underneath for additional warmth without feeling like your swing is restricted.
I liked the minimalist and yet colorful design, of which there are six to choose from. The branding is subtle, although the logos do give the garment that stamp of quality, which golfers will appreciate.

How we test for the best golf rain jackets
When it comes to testing waterproof jackets, and indeed all apparel, our ethos and methodology revolves around putting the gear on, and using it out on the golf course, in different conditions. The entire Golf Monthly team are regular golfers, and given how many clothing brands there are in the golf space, all test waterproof jackets.
Obviously to test waterproofing we game the apparel in wet conditions, and we have also gone to extreme measures before, like pouring water all over the jackets to test how seam-sealed they are (as you can see below).
We think the best way of actually testing golf products is to use them thoroughly on the golf course, over a number of rounds, but we also try them off the golf course too because some models are extremely versatile. We then use these experiences to create reviews and buying advice content. Speaking of which we should make very clear, no manufacturer can buy a good review from us, we tell it how we see it.
How to choose a rain jacket
So what are some of the factors you need to consider when trying to find the right waterproof golf jacket for you? Let's take a look.
Waterproofing
Obviously the most important thing is waterproofing. If a jacket doesn't keep the rain at bay, regardless of strength and duration, then it isn't worth having. Thankfully pretty much all of the models above will protect you from the rain in excellent fashion largely because they have been designed specifically for that purpose.
In terms of specifics, when doing your research be aware of the phrase 'water resistant' because this does not mean the jacket is completely waterproof, and also check if jackets have been seam-sealed because this is usually a great barometer of how waterproof a jacket is. We would also recommend checking if some models have a waterproof warranty, as well as having a look at our best golf rain gear guide.
Protection
A good waterproof jacket will also help you in the wind and cold too. The best models stop the wind penetrating the fabric and making your core cold, and also have nice features like fleece lined pockets to give you some respite from the poor conditions.
Color
If you are wearing it, you have to like what it looks like. No longer are golf rain jackets drab and boring to look at because now there are designs for all fashion senses. It is just a case of picking a design and color you like.
Freedom of movement
With all this protection, occasionally rain jackets can be large and cumbersome but in modern golf design this is no longer the case. Most really good models stretch and move with the body freely so that your swing isn't hindered despite having a few layers on. Models like the FootJoy HydroTour and adidas Rain.Rdy are prime examples of this and we would always recommend trying a jacket on and making some swings in it before purchasing.
Budget
Finally be aware of your budget so you can find a jacket that fits into it nicely. Importantly there are models above which come with premium, and value price points so there is something for everyone.

FAQs
How should a golf waterproof jacket fit?
A good golf waterproof jacket needs to find a delicate balance. It needs to feel slightly snug to keep you warm, not let any rain near the body, and to not interfere with the swing, but not too tight that it restricts movement. This is no real issue for the arms and cuffs really as most models have adjustability in these areas but you should be wary of getting the wrong size for the torso. A rule of thumb is that is must come down to roughly in line with the bottom of your belt.
What is the best golf rain jacket?
There are lots of excellent models of golf jacket on the market. From big brands like FootJoy, adidas and Under Armour, to smaller ones like Galvin Green and Stuburt, there are lots of top models out right now. I personally also really like the models from Peter Millar, Zero Restriction and G/FORE as well.
We hope you enjoyed this guide on the best waterproof golf jackets. For more weather protection, whether that be rain pants, waterproof shoes or rain gloves, you need garments to keep the weather at bay.
