Our feet are the only point of contact we have with the ground as we make our swing. Therefore, it's vital that we find a pair of golf shoes that not only provide comfort, but stability and grip as we tackle the golf course.

However, as important as performance is, golf shoes, much like our day-to-day sneakers, are still a fashion statement and provide us with an opportunity to stand out on the golf course. What's more, these models feature in spiked and spikeless editions which, again, all affect performance.

When it comes to spiked models, these can be worn all year round, but perhaps are more suited to winter, given that the conditions underfoot are more slippery and more grip is needed. Spikeless, on the other hand, are more suited to summer and, in some cases, they can be worn off the course as well, with some spikeless models based on sports like running and basketball.

VIDEO: Watch Dan Parker's verdict on the 11 of the best golf shoes from 2023

Deciding on a pair of golf shoes can be tricky, especially as everyone wants a pair of the most comfortable golf shoes or a pair that needs to be waterproof. However, some individuals may have wide feet, and some manufacturers cater to that need better than others. Again, there are many different manufacturers in the golf shoe department nowadays. These include the more established brands like Puma, adidas, Nike and FootJoy, as well as the upcoming companies like G/Fore and New Balance, so the possible options are endless...

With all of this in mind, we've taken a look at some of the best golf shoes on the market right now, with all the models listed reviewed by the Golf Monthly team. We've also split this guide up into the best spikeless models, best spiked models and best women's golf shoes so you can really hone in on the perfect golf shoe for you!

Best Spikeless Golf Shoe 2024

Under Armour Drive Pro SL golf shoe review

A performance golf shoe that delivers the full experience

Specifications

Sizes: 6-14
Waterproof: Yes
BOA Option: No
Colors: 3 (Black/Titan Grey, White/Metallic Gun Metal, Mod Gray/Capri)

Reasons to buy

+
Sensational levels of support and comfort
+
Lightweight but sturdy build
+
Exemplary grip from outsole

Reasons to avoid

-
Upper materials not as premium as the competition

To begin with, the new Drive Pro SL has been redesigned with extensive help from world-renowned Biomechanist, JJ Rivet, as well as the brand’s most high profile Tour player Jordan Spieth. It's been two years since we have seen this model and, from our testing, we think it was definitely worth the wait!

Technology-wise, there have been some significant changes made, such as a Swing Support System that covers everything from traction and the HOVR midsole, all the way up to a new lacing system. Providing users with a firmer feel, there is also a new hybrid outsole and redesigned nub system that sees a range of different height nubs which provide more ground penetration and grip.

In testing, it didn't take us long to see that these are amongst the best spikeless shoes on the market. They have a lightweight feel at just 12oz, with the grip provided for a spikeless model ample. Overall, the performance was faultless, as the S3 system kept our foot firmly planted on the ground while providing support in the key areas. Such was the performance, our tester said: "It’s a sensation I’ve felt in few spikeless golf shoes like it."

FootJoy Pro/SLX Carbon golf shoe review

A worthy improvement on an iconic shoe franchise

Specifications

Sizes: 5.5-14
Waterproof: Yes
BOA Option: No
Colors: 2 (White/Black/Multi, Black)

Reasons to buy

+
Superb and innovative new spikeless traction system
+
More comfort than ever before in the Pro/SL franchise
+
Premium, athletic looks

Reasons to avoid

-
Could do with more arch support

FootJoy introduced the first Pro/SL golf shoe to the market eight years ago and the iconic look has stood the test of time. The Pro/SLX Carbon is a great looking shoe with a modern styling aided by new flashes of tech and color which provide a fresh, modern and premium look which we love.

This shoe retains all of the reliable technology associated with Footjoy, but one new aspect which FootJoy have worked on is the spikeless outsoles, which now feature a moulded 3D X-Wing. Additionally, the carbon fiber construction redistributes energy to the perimeter of the golf shoe to provide extra grip where golfers need it most. This shoe is quite different to most of the spikeless models, but we have to say that we felt it worked superbly in testing.

Finally, the comfort was a also a real standout to us, as FootJoy have once again utilised the superb Ortholite Impressions FitBed that we saw on the HyperFlex Carbon from 2023. Overall, the comfort on offer is exceptional.

Most Comfortable

Ecco LT1 golf shoe review

An outstandingly comfortable golf shoe

Specifications

Sizes: 7.5-12.5
Waterproof: 100%
BOA Option: Yes
Colors: 4 (standard), 2 (BOA), 3 (women's)

Reasons to buy

+
Lightweight design that offers ample comfort
+
Well executed BOA lacing system
+
Soft, premium materials used throughout

Reasons to avoid

-
Foot has a tendency to roll within the shoe during the swing

The model is the Ecco LT1, which is unquestionably one of the most comfortable golf shoes on the market. How, you may ask? Well, this is thanks to the combination of Ecco's new midsole foam called Ltyr, and the Fuildform technology which is designed for cushioning.

In testing, we thought that the cushioning felt superb and walking was a breeze, whilst we also enjoyed the seriously lightweight design which further aided the comfort. The only slight downside is that, from a grip and traction perspective, there are better models in this guide, with the LT1 solid, if not spectacular. It will perform well in dry and slightly damp conditions but, in really wet weather, you would be better off going for one of the spiked models below.

Another slight negative is that we weren't really blown away with the looks of the shoe either but, it must be said, this is a subjective point as a couple of Golf Monthly team members absolutely loved the aesthetics of this shoe. All in all though, we think the LT1 definitely delivers on the brand's claims of setting the bar for lightness and comfort in a shoe.

Best Looking

G/FORE Gallivan2r golf shoe review

One of the best looking golf shoes we have ever tested

Specifications

Sizes: 7-15
Waterproof: Yes
BOA Option: No
Colors: 5 (Snow/Twilight, Snow/Baja Camo, Twilight, Snow/Onyx, Snow/Nimbus)

Reasons to buy

+
Just look at them
+
Can't get tired of the foot massaging insole
+
Waterproof, breathable and anti-microbial

Reasons to avoid

-
Integrated rubber cleat system isn't quite as good as the competition

First things first, the Gallivan2r is one of the best looking golf shoes we have seen in the past decade! Out of the box, we believe it blends everything that's great about the classic design of the G/FORE Gallivanter with the sportiness of the G/FORE MG4+ to spawn an immediate classic.

There's an awful lot to like about this shoe and, alongside the gorgeous looks, it provides a copious amount of comfort from a dimpled insole and 3D molded heel cup. These aspects helped keep our foot in place when swinging the club on the course, whilst the padding around the heel/Achilles area meant there were no signs of rubbing.

Where this model sets itself up to be unique is with the outsole. It has an integrated rubber cleat system, 13 on each shoe, which are all set at the same height and, although they provided a decent amount of grip, there are more grippier models on the market. Importantly, the brand have opted for TPU upper materials rather than the full grain leather on some of the best G/Fore golf shoes and, consequently, it is fully waterproof.

Best Value

Adidas S2g SL golf shoe review

Excellent looks, versatility and value for money

Specifications

Sizes: 6.5-14.5
Waterproof: Yes
BOA Option: Yes (In Wide Model)
Colors: 3 (White/Charcoal, White/Green, White/Navy)

Reasons to buy

+
Superb value for money
+
Excellent on/off course wearability
+
Lightweight but quality build

Reasons to avoid

-
Not as breathable as some

For 2024, adidas has introduced another shoe into its crossover category, aiming to offer golfers a shoe that can be worn from dawn until dusk, on and off the golf course. The new S2G SL (there is also a spiked version available) is based off a running shoe design, which is what gives it its modern, sporty silhouette.

Beginning with the cost, as we have given these the best value tagline, these S2G GL have an RRP of £90, which instantly puts them amongst the best budget golf shoes, especially as they're coming from a reliable brand like adidas.

Comfort-wise, it's a much wider fit than other adidas golf shoe, so it does indeed fit true to size. Also, adidas have used their Lightstrike technology through the midsole, something which we see in the spiked models. Aesthetically, we were big fans, as it combines the styles of previous adidas running shoes. As mentioned, it is designed to be worn on and off the course and, from our testing, we can comfortably say it strikes the correct notes in that section.

Best Classic Design

FootJoy Premiere Series Field Golf Shoe Review

A Tour-validated golf shoe, the Field mixes traditional style with modern technology

Specifications

Sizes: 6-14
Waterproof: Yes
BOA Option: No
Colors: 4 (White/Black, White, Brown, Black)

Reasons to buy

+
Stunning aesthetic
+
Comfort rivals best on the market
+
Waterproof protection

Reasons to avoid

-
Not as much grip as spiked models

Worn by the likes of PGA Tour players Adam Scott and Max Homa, the Premiere Series Field provides a great mix of style, functionality, and solid performance on a range of lies and courses.

Out the box, we instantly noticed the classic design that, although may not look it, is extremely lightweight. Available in different colorways, there should be a style to suit everybody and, when out on the golf course, its old-school style is backed up via modern day performance. Much like the best FootJoy golf shoes, these stand out in their own unique way.

In terms of performance, the grip and stability on offer was good and stopped us slipping on a variety of different lies; we must note that, in incredibly wet conditions, the spikeless design may not be as effective. Where this model stood out, though, was in the comfort department, as there were no discomfort or rubbing from the first wear and, what is great to see, is that FootJoy offer medium and wide fit designs.

Best Sneaker Design

The Nike Air Jordan 1 Low golf shoe pictured on a tee box

A stand out casual golf shoe that any sneaker fan should have in their locker

Specifications

Sizes: 7-15
Waterproof: Yes
BOA Option: No
Colors: 4 (Blue/Red/White, White, Black, Silver)

Reasons to buy

+
Stand-out looks
+
Excellent comfort, particularly in the heel
+
On/off course wearability

Reasons to avoid

-
Not as much support through the swing as other spikeless shoes

When it comes to the best Nike golf shoes, golfers are truly spoilt for choice, with a number of stylish models available to purchase. In this guide, we have selected the Air Jordan Low 1 G golf shoe as it provides a sneaker-style that many will absolutely adore.

In this model, we see a stitch-for-stitch reconstruction of the standard Air Jordan 1 shoe, meaning it benefits from full leather materials and an encapsulated air unit in the heel of the shoe for added comfort. After using these shoes solidly for a month, our tester stated that: "I never came off the course after 18 holes with aching feet or legs".

Nike's engineers have adjusted the outsole of this shoe to include a forefoot pivot circle that offers extra traction on one of the most vital areas of the foot. In damp and dry conditions there were no problems, but we wouldn't wear these in properly wet conditions. The only slight downside was the support during the swing. The reason is due to the like-for-like construction of the standard street sneaker, which isn't built to take the loads that the feet experience during the golf swing.

Best Spikeless Golf Shoe From 2022

Ecco Biom C4 Shoe review

Breathable, Lightweight, Comfortable

Specifications

Sizes: 6-12
Waterproof: 100%
BOA option: Yes
Colors: 4 (White, Navy, White/Black, Grey/Blue)

Reasons to buy

+
Supreme comfort
+
Incredibly soft leather upper
+
All-over breathability
+
Suitable for all feet widths

Reasons to avoid

-
Toe area prone to staining

Building nicely on the foundations of their excellent Biom H4, the C4 has a new sneaker-style aesthetic and a wide range of color options available, which means there should be something for everyone's tastes.

The performance matches the looks too, with excellent comfort and breathability present throughout. Ecco has used a super-soft performance leather across the shoe and also their Fluidform technology that creates a balance of cushioning and rebound below the foot, which really enhances the comfort aspect.

Another cool feature of these shoes is the Exhaust Grid technology that scoops fresh air towards the sole of the foot to keep it cool. We were big fans of this aspect and feel that it helps to make the Biom C4 one of the most breathable shoes. Additionally, the removable insole should help expand the lifespan of the golf shoe.

Best Off Course

True Linkswear Lux Hybrid Review

One of our favorite hybrid shoes

Specifications

Sizes : 7-15
Waterproof: 100%
BOA Option: No
Colors: 6 (Grey, White, Black, Cognac, Admiral, Azalea)

Reasons to buy

+
Superb low-profile outsole
+
Sleek looks
+
Breathable
+
Lightweight

Reasons to avoid

-
Not as much support around the heel
-
Below par in muddy conditions

True Linkswear - a relatively fresh brand out of the Pacific Northwest - has truly leaned into the newly adopted casual fashion in golf with its commitment to casual golf shoes that offer comfort, performance and wearability off the golf course.

To begin with, the Lux Hybrid is one of the brand's flagship models and it ticked all the boxes when it claimed to be one of the best golf shoes you can wear on and off the golf course. From the moment you step out of your front door to play golf, you can wear these shoes all day long and with pretty much any outfit thanks to the selection of neutral colors and smart-casual silhouette. More than just the looks, it's as comfortable as any standard sneaker is day-to-day too.

It has a Wanderlux midsole that is soft to the touch, but still firm enough underfoot to offer a decent amount of support when swinging the golf club. Lightweight and grippy in an array of conditions, it's fully waterproof despite the knit construction. It really is an excellent model from a stylish brand.

Leather upper needs careful looking after

The flagship performance golf shoe from adidas is approaching its 20th anniversary and, as such, the 2024 edition has benefitted from a complete redesign from the inside out, as it introduces new technology into the familiar, well loved silhouette.

Amongst the changes from its predecessor, we see the moulded spikes issue has been addressed with removable spikes introduced on the 2024 version. The Tour360 is definitely one of the best spiked golf shoes in its class, with the new 'T-Shape' suede microfiber heel featuring a three-piece construction that combines a soft, anti-abrasive sandwiched textile running from the inside heel to the top of the collar. It is significantly softer than the previous shoe and, in testing, we could immediately feel the difference. It offers improved comfort and also adds to the durability. The insole has been reshaped as well and we could instantly feel more arch and heel support. This only added to the levels on comfort when combined with the rest of the shoe, making this one of the best adidas golf shoes we've ever tested.

Best Support

Under Armour Drive Pro Golf Shoe Review

A comprehensive and well designed new traction system provide excellent support

Specifications

Sizes: 8-13
Waterproof: Yes
BOA Option: No
Colors: 2 (White/Blue, White/Green)

Reasons to buy

+
Exemplary grip
+
Excellent sensation of foot support with flexibility
+
Slightly softer sensation underfoot than previous models

Reasons to avoid

-
Upper materials not as premium as its rivals
-
Looks won't turn heads

Like the SL version of the Drive Pro in this list, we see the Swing Support System - otherwise known as S3, once again. How does it differ, you may wonder? Well, the main difference is that this version features spikes, nine in total, on the sole for incredible grip.

The S3 spike makes up four of the nine spikes, whilst the other five are the new Soft Spike Tour Flex Pro. As previously mentioned, these shoes were developed by biomechanist JJ Rivet and, with this design, Rivet wanted these spikes turned precisely 10° clockwise to hit a precise angle of slip that he wanted to resist. The results are comprehensive as, in testing, they worked faultlessly, keeping our foot planted to the ground whilst offering the foot support in the key areas.

One last new addition is the lacing system and, along with the lightweight feel at just 12oz, the Pro performed very well in testing. Although it should be acknowledged that we weren't huge fans of the writing on the side of the shoe and the quality of the upper material, the Drive Pro comes in at a slightly lower price point compared to other premium designs.

Best Firmer Feel

Nike Air Zoom Victory Tour 3 Golf Shoes Review

Reasons to buy

+
Outstanding comfort and feel

Reasons to avoid

-
Laces feel a touch cheap

We loved the Victory Tour 2 shoes and, in this latest model, Nike have taken everything that made that shoe great and improved the performance further with the Victory Tour 3, which earned the full five stars in our review.

Nike improved the aesthetics of the Tour 3 in several subtle ways. The swoosh and midsole sections look slightly different and better, in our opinion, with the new Full-grain leather upper still providing a supple feel and sophisticated look.

Comfort-wise, the internal strap on the inside of the shoe contours to your feet and there is extra padding around the ankle, meaning these shoes are up there with anything we've tried when it comes to comfort. Additionally, Nike have stitched a Zoom Air unit directly to the upper which delivered exceptional feel, while the foam at the heel was nice and cushioned, making them some of the best golf shoes for walking in.

Best Lightweight

Not the most premium-looking shoe

Back in 2021, adidas released the adidas ZG21 with it being one of our favorite golf shoes released that year. Now, the company have updated their offering with the ZG23, a spiked model that provides incredible lightweight feel and plenty of technology to boost performance.

To begin with, adidas has introduced Lightstrike and Lightstrike Pro technology to the newly revamped midsole. Used in their basketball and running shoes, the comfort on offer in the golf shoe was incredible, as well as the softness it provided. Paired with the softness of the upper - both on the outside and inside of the shoe - the ZG23 is right up there as one of the most comfortable spiked golf shoes money can buy.

What's more, adidas have upgraded their Stability Fin in this model; it is now a 3D shape wrapped around the outside of the shoe and is even lighter than what we saw in the ZG21. The ultra-lightweight nature of the shoe is very satisfying and really reduced foot fatigue after walking 18 holes but, where we felt it was slightly let down was in the looks department, which hadn't changed much since the 2021 model.

Laces are quite long

Payntr are an emerging name in the golf world and recently debuted with the X 003 spikeless golf shoe, which we thought was a stunning model that delivered excellent traction and comfort. Now comes their first entry into the best spiked golf shoe market, the X 004 RS boasting one of the best soles on a golf shoe we've tested in a long while.

The outsole features a carbon fibre propulsion plate which is there to help golfers take advantage of ground reaction forces and deliver more speed to the golf ball.  Another feature is the all-new SoftSpikes Tour Flex Pro spikes in the outsole. Each of these spikes has 10 different points of contact with the ground and, with seven spikes per shoe, that's adds up to140 points of contact!

In testing, the sole seriously impressed. The grip was strong and delivered a premium level of comfort and support. What's more, the heel cup is built from a slightly different material that is very soft and we found that it really helped prevent any rubbing on the ankle, which is great for preventing blisters from forming on your Achilles.

Best Low Profile

Puma Phantomcat Nitro golf shoe review

A well rounded spiked golf shoe with a unique traction system

Specifications

Sizes: 7-12
Waterproof: Yes
BOA Option: No
Colors: 3 (Black/Green/White, Black/Silver, White/Silver)

Reasons to buy

+
Low profile spiked outsole offers great grip
+
Pops of color on the outsole
+
Nice touches of detail on the upper
+
Lightweight build

Reasons to avoid

-
Outsole has a tendency to clog with mud

First things first, the Phantomcat Nitro boasts one of the most unique outsoles we've ever seen, with a brand-new Flexspike integrated cleat and flash colors being introduced to the market. It's the first time that we have seen it on Puma's golf shoes and, in our testing, we were impressed with the grip available, especially on the wet and muddy days we tested them on.

The reason for these spikes is to increase surface contact with the ground and improve weight distribution across the foot. Because of the change, Puma's engineers have made the Phantomcat Nitro lighter and, as the sub-heading suggests, lower in profile, something which makes it stand-out amongst the best spiked golf shoes.

Like the best Puma golf shoes, there is plenty of value to be had here and, with Puma injecting a new nitrogen-infused foam into the shoe, it provides great softness and rebound when walking and hitting shots. In testing, we felt that the low profile spiked outsole worked well and will give you all year round wearability, even when the ground is very dry or very wet.

Not for women who prefer a more traditional looking shoe

When it comes to the best women's golf shoes, FootJoy are often a name that features heavily. With their newest model, the Performa, that is the case once again, as the modern, trainer-like design felt like a breath of fresh air from the more traditional looking women’s golf shoes we might be used to from FootJoy.

With an athletic design, the FootJoy Performa looks and feels like more than a golf shoe and could easily be worn on or off the golf course. What's more, there is an eye-catching sole design that really stands out and, because it provides traction when it’s wet underfoot, it makes the case for being one of the best women's spikeless golf shoes on the market.

In testing, we found the waterproof nature of the shoes kept our feet protected, with the comfort and versatility a particular stand out. Importantly, if you do opt to wear these in the winter months, the Performa wipes away mud easily and can be cleaned and maintained like new.

Relatively bulky look

If it’s a sporty feel you’re after then look no further than the Payntr X-003. These shoes have some clever technical advantages, with the 3-dimensional traction on the sole providing great grip which resists instability. In testing, we felt they almost screwed themselves into the ground when swinging the club and the traction technology that’s gone into the shoes mean you are actually more stable through the ball.

Additionally, the graphite Pebax propulsion plate allows golfers to more effectively harness ground forces. Comfort levels are also high thanks to a Single Density PMX Foam Midsole which absorbs shock as you walk. We would compare this feeling to when you have a new pair of running shoes which provide maximum under foot support.

They’re fairly bulky in design, which partly explains the stability they offer, but this isn’t a negative as it merely adds to the aesthetic. Like a fashion trainer, they have a lot of laces and a chunky sole to house all that tech but, at just over 300g a shoe, they’re far from heavy.

G/FORE Women's MG4+ Golf Shoes

G/Fore MG4+ Womens Golf Shoe Review

A stand-out design that will turn heads on the golf course

Specifications

Sizes: 5-11
Waterproof: Yes
BOA Option: No
Colors: 2 (Day Glo Pink & Stone)

Reasons to buy

+
You want a really comfortable pair of golf shoes
+
The fantastic blend of style and performance

Reasons to avoid

-
You prefer the softer feel of leather rather than synthetic

Our verdict on the G/Fore MG4+ after testing was that this is a brilliant golf shoe which is cutting-edge in design. Firstly, it has an innovative footbed inner sole that literally massages your feet as you walk and brings a whole new feeling to comfort on the course.

The massaging footbed inner sole is unlike any golf shoe you will have experienced before, it will have you bouncing up the fairway like you’re walking on air. The best way to describe it is that, if you’ve ever used one of those bumpy foot massage tools, you’ll know that great feeling of rolling it under your foot, relieving stress and tension.

The performance benefits don’t stop there though. This shoe has been designed to give your foot total swing support while allowing you to feel grounded and stable. Performance-orientated golf shoes can be a little ‘sturdy’ and firm in feel, but we found that the G/Fore MG4+ fitted like a glove from the very first round. There was no need for breaking them in and there was no rubbing, making them one of the best women's golf shoes for this year.

Puma Women's Ignite Blaze Pro Shoes

Lacking stability

The Ignite Blaze shoes are 100% waterproof and will provide full protection even on the rainiest of days. In addition, they provide great traction thanks to six well-placed spikes on the outsole.

While this shoe perhaps isn’t quite as stable as some of the other models on the list, if you want a nice combination of comfort, grip and breathability we would recommend this is as a great option.

Puma market these shoes as being for women who take their golf seriously, but we think they're much more than that as, in testing, we found them to be up there with the most comfortable models we’ve ever worn, making them suitable for all women golfers.

How we test golf shoes

Our golf shoe testing methodology is based on putting models to a thorough test over a number of rounds and in different weather conditions. By doing it this way we gain a much better idea of the overall performance of the product in terms of factors like comfort, grip, stability, waterproofing and how they actually look on the golf course. It is important to stress that each of the shoes listed above has been personally used by a member of the Golf Monthly team. We believe that this is the best way of testing a golf shoe as using it in the real world over a number of weeks allows us to see how they perform when variables change like the weather, ground conditions, different stances and lies, and so on.

This also gives us information on the little details too. So for example, some brands may come up smaller or larger than others. Other models might start to rub a bit too much after 36 holes, while we can also identify which designs can be used off the golf course and for the drive home.

Finally, at Golf Monthly we are very comprehensive in our tests to the point where we will regularly attend product launches and meet with the manufacturer’s R&D experts to understand the new technology. That isn't to say manufacturers can buy a good review, as all our reviews are made by golfers, for golfers.

How to choose the best golf shoe

There are a number of factors to consider when picking out your next pair of golf shoes so to help you narrow down your search and inform your buying decision, below we have put together some key points.

Getting the right fit

When picking out golf shoes getting the right fit is important because otherwise, blisters can build up which is an instant round killer. Alternatively, your feet may slide around inside, which limits your stability.

When it comes to the right fit it is also worth considering different laces. Normal laces are good for most but for some golfers, BOA-laced shoes provide more convenient fastening and shouldn’t loosen during the course of a round, but are usually a tad more expensive.

When trying a pair on for the first time, listen for the 'whoosh' sound when you slide your feet in - that's the sound of all the air leaving the shoe to confirm it is the correct size, but do a walking test to be sure. They shouldn't pinch anywhere, nor should your feet be moving around inside.

Spiked or spikeless?

The best golf shoes above are split into spiked (or cleated) and spikeless designs and there are pros and cons of each. Spikeless golf shoes offer off-course versatility. They are perfect for driving in the car to the golf course, playing a round, and then driving home again because they are usually light and comfortable, but most won't offer as much traction as a spiked shoe. Spiked golf shoes offer better grip and stability but don't sit as low to the ground as spikeless models.

Styling

Thankfully modern golf shoe design has seen many brands not just create traditional, classic-looking shoes, but also modern styles that can be used off the golf course too. Therefore it is important to think about what your shoes look like and what style suits you. Whatever you like or dislike, there is something for everyone these days.

Waterproofing

If you live somewhere that gets a lot of rain then a waterproof shoe is a must. The best designs will keep your feet bone dry however if you play golf in glorious sunshine most of the time, then you may view other factors as more significant.

Many players choose to have one pair for winter and another, lighter pair for summer to keep them fresh and suit different requirements.

FAQs

Why wear golf shoes?

Golf shoes are needed for golf because they have been designed to deal with all the things golfers face on the course. This takes the form of being as comfortable as possible because they have to be worn and walked in, all day. They also have to provide grip and traction as golfers make their swings whereas normal shoes don't do this as well. Golf shoes tend to be waterproof as well whereas regular trainers often aren't.

What are the best shoes for playing golf?

All of the shoes in our list will provide with an enjoyable, comfortable and performance enhancing experience on course. Golf shoes are specifically designed to support the movements of golfers and the conditions of a golf course, so make sure to invest in a proper pair of golf shoes.

How do I choose golf shoes?

There are a number of factors to consider. First ask yourself whether you want a spiked shoe for extra grip or a spikeless shoe for a more casual and a low profile look. Then consider whether it needs to be fully waterproof, what color and style you like and also work out your exact shoe size. Once you have answered these questions you'll have narrowed down your search and you'll be able to find the perfect shoe for your game.

Do Pro golfers use spikeless shoes?

The majority of golfers on Tour will wear spikleess shoes. This is because they play mostly in dry, warm conditions on highly manicured golf courses. However, you'll see many Tour players switch to spiked golf shoes if they are playing in inclement weather. Some players, like Collin Morikawa with the adidas ZG21, always opt to wear a spiked shoe
