9 Things You Should Add To Your Setup This Spring, And How To Get Them
With the start of the golfing season approaching, we have picked out nine things you could, (and maybe should), add to your golfing setup right now.

Wakey, wakey golfers! Our winter golf hibernation is almost over...
The evenings are getting longer, the flowers are beginning to grow again and then clocks change soon which means the golf season is almost upon us! As a man slightly obsessed with the weather, a glimmer of sun, a bud on a blossom tree and a dry-ish golf course has got me shaking with anticipation for the next six months of golf. If you're a golfing warrior and have had the motivation to play through the grey, dreary winter days then fair play, but this list can still apply to you! If you're a golfer who played through the winter in beautiful sunshine... then I'm jealous.
For those living in the UK, it has been a truly grey and wet start to the year, but the good (dry) times are very, very close. It's been a long old slog, and it seems like a lifetime since I wrote about the 5 things I'd be putting in my golf bag for the winter at the end of last year. Such has been my lack of golf over the last month, my golf bag has been nothing more than a dust collector in my hallway.
As we all try and manage our excitement ahead of the 2025 season, our gear team here at Golf Monthly recently put their heads together to answer the question - what products would we recommend as golfers to help improve someone else's game this Spring? If you're getting back into golf this spring, now is the best time to have a proper sort out of your golf bag and get it ready for the best six month stretch of the year.
We compared and contrasted items we've tested over the years and concluded with this list of nine potential options. Obviously context dependent, we aren't saying every player should go for all 9 items below, some may only need, or want, a couple, so choose according to your current equipment setup because we have tried to cover every base here.
May be a few years old, but if you need to replace your driver then we think the SIM2 Max is still a very good model to consider from one of the strongest brands for drivers on the market.
The SIM2 Max produces both high ball flight and launch, making it perfect for those players who struggle to get the ball airborne from the tee or simply want a few extra yards with their driver in hand. High launch is typically achieved with higher spin, but TaylorMade haven't allowed spin levels to get out of control which is great news for players like me who play often in windy conditions. With cracking looks, subtle but helpful alignment on the head and a feel that rivals the best golf drivers of 2025, we can't see many better value drivers on the market at the moment.

For us amateurs the green is where we can probably save the most shots so if your putter isnt performing for you, then a new flat-stick might be the way to go, and it doesn't have to be an expensive purchase either.
One of our favorite affordable options was the Wilson Staff Buckingham which wowed us in testing thanks to the performance on offer. As with all the Infinite range, the Buckingham features counterbalance technology which combines a heavier head and grip weights, moving the balance point closer to the hands for a smoother and more controlled putting stroke. A mallet putter is also a bit of a cheat code for shorter putts, with the extra weight of the head stabilizing the face through impact whilst also providing a little more forgiveness so more putts find the bottom of the cup.

Awarded with a spot on our Editor's Choice list, the Tour Response Stripe golf balls are the perfect combination between performance and value, meaning you should stock up on them ahead of what will hopefully be a busy Spring and Summer season of golf!
There are a number of reasons why we're recommending these golf balls - firstly, the unique stripe decal can really help with your putting no matter your handicap. Featuring a lime green and grey coloured band that wraps around the ball, this tool can be used for alignment on the greens to help you really pinpoint your line whilst also showing you how effectively the ball is rolling. It also delivers a strong ball flight and excellent levels of spin for approach shots, a true all rounder.

If you want to go even further than the Stripe above, the Srixon Z-Star Diamond is an outstanding, Tour-level model. This 2023 version may have been replaced but we are confident the performance will still be excellent given our testing.
Another entry to our Editor's Choice awards list, you won't find a premium golf ball at a better price. Srixon combine a slightly firmer compression with a really soft cover to create that sweet spot between distance and feel we all crave. Mid-to-low handicappers who can hit above average swing speeds will be the biggest beneficiaries of the Z-Star Diamond, proving an excellent option for golfers who want a premium ball that has the distance but also the right level of control and spin.

Golf fashion is changing as the game becomes more and more popular, especially in the amateur ranks. The older-fashioned, arguably stuffy dress codes are becoming more relaxed which has allowed a new department of golf shoes to grow - the casual golf shoe. Sneaker-style golf shoes have become very popular with players, especially when we consider they can be worn seamlessly on and off the course - something we'd struggle to do with most of the best spiked golf shoes!
The Air Jordan 1 shoes are one of our favorites. Not only do they look awesome, they also performed really well for us during testing. The performance is good enough for some of the professionals on tour as well, with Justin Rose sporting this golf shoe week to week on the PGA Tour. This is a shoe that will get you compliments both on the first tee and the clubhouse whilst also keeping you very comfortable on the course.

I've used the Blue Tees Series 3 Max rangefinder for just over a year now and I don't see that changing any time soon. When we write articles like these we're always looking for that perfect balance between value and performance - something the Series 3 does arguably better than any rangefinder on the market.
The price tag is closer to some of the best budget rangefinders, but the performance is right up there with the best golf rangefinders out there. Feedback when using this device is almost instantaneous whilst the build quality is top notch - this feels like a premium product in your hand. This theme continues to the display which is bright, clear and easy to understand. The slope feature is also very handy during casual rounds with your buddies. If you've never used a rangefinder before or fancy upgrading an older model, we can't recommend this one enough.

This is the year you want to take your game to the next level, and one way to do so is to know more about your game right? Knowing stock yardages on your clubs will help, and the Rapsodo MLM is a top launch monitor device to help you do so.
The Rapsodo Mobile Launch Monitor is an excellent option for golfers seeking an affordable way to gain insights into their shot or club performance. All you need to pair it is an IOS smartphone - simply download the app, sign in, rest your phone in the front slot of the unit and position it approx. six feet behind the ball and swing away. It's also a breeze to use and carry about thanks to the compact size and lightweight design making it easily portable in the carry case. Although accuracy won't be as tight as some of the best launch golf monitors, this is a fabulous product when we consider the price point and how valuable the information it gives us will be - it could even help you shoot lower scores in 2025.

Now that we have all our golf gear in hand, be that clubs, balls, gadgets and more, it's time to turn our attention to the wardrobe. We don't always agree on things in the Golf Monthly office but one thing we're all on the same page about is golf fashion - look good, feel good, play good.
Given that it's still spring time and those temperatures may not have quite reason to short sleeves weather depending on where you are in the world, the Puma Clubhouse Hybrid Jacket will allow you to stay warm during those spring rounds where it can still be a little chilly. This is a great looking piece that comes with a knitted sweater back and sleeves as well as a hood for versatility and style - a trend that has grown a lot in recent years. All of this is insulated with Primaloft fill to keep you warm and swinging freely on the course. Oh, and the best bit? It's got 50% off the price!
We normally choose one specific product to talk about when it comes to apparel so we're slightly cheating here - however, given the sale on Peter Millar apparel right now we encourage you to check out the selection. The brand make some of our favorite golf fashion pieces including some of the best golf polo shirts and best golf pants. We've tested a lot of their stuff over the years and both the looks and performance are consistently at a very high level.
Although their apparel comes with a higher price tag than others, you really do get what you pay for. With the sale on at PGA TOUR Superstore, you'd be missing out if you didn't at least have a browse! If your golfing wardrobe needs a refresh for Spring 2025, I cannot recommend the brand enough.
