Everything you need to know about Team United States ahead of the 2020 Ryder Cup

Ryder Cup Team USA - Whistling Straits 2021

Europe beat the US to victory in 2018 at Le Golf National in France, and following a year's delay of the 2020 Ryder Cup, the tournament returns at Whistling Straits.

Zach Johnson and Davis Love III will join Jim Furyk as Stricker's vice-captains for the Ryder Cup, but who will be playing for the United States in the tournament?

Before the start of the pandemic, the eight leading players on the Ryder Cup points list would have gained automatic qualification for the United States team, but that has since been reduced.

Instead, only the top-six players on the Ryder Cup points list automatically qualify for the team, which includes Collin Morikawa, Dustin Johnson, Bryson DeChambeau, Brooks Koepka, Justin Thomas, and Patrick Cantlay.

The six automatics were decided following the conclusion of the BMW Championship, which saw Cantlay leapfrog the Northern Trust winner Tony Finau in the Ryder Cup points list.

With the final PGA Tour event of the season ending on 5 September with the Tour Championship, Stricker has now chosen his six captain's picks.

Finau still makes the team as one of Stricker's six captains picks, understandably so considering his narrow miss from automatic qualification, plus his experience having played in the 2018 tournament.

Xander Schauffele and Harris English are both set to play in their first Ryder Cup at Whistling Straits too, with both players finishing in the top-ten on the Ryder Cup points list.

Jordan Spieth is arguably the most obvious captain's pick considering his ability and experience in the Ryder Cup, with this tournament set to be his fourth appearance.

Finally, both Daniel Berger and Scottie Scheffler are two more Ryder Cup rookies added to the team as the last captain's picks.

Scheffler will be the United States' youngest player in their team at 25-years-old, though his three top-ten finishes in the PGA Championship, US Open, and The Open this season shows his consistency.

Berger finished 12th on the points list and sits within the top-20 on the Official World Golf Ranking, justifying Stricker's selection of him.
