One of the biggest golf gear trends we’ve seen over the last couple of years is a growth in personalisation. From striking headcovers to custom wedge designs, the choices for adding some personality to your set-up have never been better. What's more, we are seeing this trend creep into different parts of the market, such as the best golf stand bags.

However, injecting some character while retaining a classic premium overall aesthetic is, for most of us at least, a real challenge. Enter the Stitch SL2 Fadeaway golf bag. I’ll come onto the clever personalisation part in a second but first, this is one of the most sleek and stylish options within the best golf bags category. Each of the 15 different colour options has the same, simple design and the branding has been kept to a minimum. The navy/white version I tested stood out for its high-end simplicity.

As you’d expect, the material used here has a premium feel and whilst it looks like leather, Stitch says it, “is more durable, lightweight and water resistant.” This gives the bag a modern feel as it weighs in at just 4lbs.

The simplicity of the design certainly extends to the pockets. There is one longer pocket for any spare clothing, which is good for carrying a light mid or outer layer but probably not big enough for both. There is another shorter pocket for golf balls, tees, gloves and anything else. For me, the SL2 Fadeaway was short of another smaller pocket for some of the items listed above. Whilst this design makes for a cleaner aesthetic, I found it harder to organise my gear. If you're looking for an option with more storage, the PING Hoofer stand bag is well worth considering.

The stand is very solid, there is a generously sized water bottle pocket and the four-way club divider at the top of the bag makes organising your clubs a beautifully faff-free experience. You are also given the choice between a single, well-cushioned, strap and the more typical double strap. I went for the later in search of comfort (it worked well) but there’s no doubt the single strap suits the overall look and feel of the bag.

That brings me back to personalisation. Stitch offers its customers the ability to add their initials to a square tab that sits on the main pocket. Again, the brand has opted for a classic, simple execution here and the effect is a subtle touch of personalisation that’s likely to catch the attention of your playing partners.

All in all, the Stitch SL2 Fadeaway is one of the most aspirational golf bags we’ve seen. And, at just under $400, the price-tag matches the premium aesthetic. However, for those who love to carry, but don’t want to pack the kitchen sink, it fits the bill with a certain style that sets it out from the crowd.
