Who Is Scottie Scheffler's Wife?
Scottie Scheffler was named the PGA Tour Rookie of the Year in 2020. During that season he finished tied for fourth at the PGA Championship and shot a 12-under 59 at The Northern Trust. Since then, he's enjoyed a meteoric rise, winning three times in 2022 at the Waste Management Phoenix Open, Arnold Palmer Invitational, and WGC-Dell Technologies Matchplay. As a result he got to world number one.
The American star, who now of course boasts a Green Jacket, is seemingly a very happy man off the course, too, and in 2020 he married his girlfriend of six years, Meredith Scudder.
The pair both grew up in Texas. Scheffler attended Highland Park High School, where he would meet and date Scudder. It was at high school that Scudder realized just how talented Scheffler was after seeing him in a commercial.
"I won the U.S. Junior in 2013 and in 2014 I had the opportunity to play in the Byron Nelson as a high school student," Scheffler recalled to the media ahead of the 2023 Sentry Tournament of Champions. He continued, "I was at [Meredith's] house one day, we were hanging out with her dad or something, and the commercial came on TV. And she was kind of looking around. She was like, Wait a minute, isn't that next weekend? Isn't that what you're doing?'"
However, as the pair set themselves up for University, Scheffler would be attending the University of Texas, whilst Scudder would be heading to University of Texas A&M.
Whilst at University, Scudder had a brief internship in Zambia. Despite the long-distance, the couple remained together and, in June 2020, Scheffler popped the question to Scudder whilst out on a hike at the Arbor Hills Nature Preserve.
Posting on Instagram, Scudder said: “YES! I can’t believe God gave me my best friend to spend the rest of my life with, can’t wait to be your wife, Scottie!!!! Blown away at the Lord’s faithfulness and goodness to us. [LET’S] DO THIS!!”
One interesting story to have done the rounds is that of Scheffler and his 3-wood. Once, when preparing for the Sentry Tournament of Champions, he cracked his Nike VR Pro Ltd 3-wood, a club that the American had used since high school.
With Nike no longer in the club manufacturing market, Scheffler wasn't able to attain a new one in time for the start of the tournament. He needn't have feared, as Scudder was on hand to buy ten potential 3-woods from Royal Oaks Country Club.
Scudder is the director of curating opportunities at Behind Every Door (BED), a nonprofit organization that provides sport, educational and creative programs for the youth in underdeveloped neighborhoods in the Dallas area.
Scudder said: "Learning how BED goes about empowering kids and families to overcome poverty and build up their communities has been amazing. We love how relational it is and that the heart behind everything they do is the gospel, that is important to Scottie and me, as well."
