How Much Does Scottie Scheffler's Caddie Make?

Ted Scott has earned millions of dollars alongside Scottie Scheffler as the World No.1 continues to dominate men's pro golf

Life has been extremely good for Ted Scott since agreeing to work with Scottie Scheffler back in 2022.

The caddie has enjoyed a front-row seat as Scheffler has run riot through a large number of PGA Tour fields, picked up his first two Majors and perched at the very top of the Official World Golf Ranking.

While he still has to work hard carrying that heavy tour bag and ensuring he gives Scheffler the right number on each occasion, Scott will undoubtedly have been extremely well compensated by his boss at the end of each event.

Bag staff are usually paid a yearly salary or kept on a retainer anyway, with each week presenting a new opportunity for an extra bump in their earnings.

Assuming that Scheffler complies with what is thought to be the standard cut for a caddie on the PGA Tour - 10% of the winner's check and between 5-7% depending on how high up a player finishes - Scott is likely to have taken home several millions of dollars in bonuses over the past few years.

In 2024 alone, thanks to a nine-win season, it is possible Scott picked up in excess of $5 million on top of his annual salary. In the space of a particularly successful 44 days last term, Scheffler earned $16,253,735 in prize money and could well have shared $1,608,761 of that with his on-course assistant.

Although there was a brief delay to the start of Scheffler's 2025 campaign due to a freak hand injury sustained while making ravioli on Christmas Day, the best male golfer on the planet wasted little time before adding significant numbers to his and Scott's earnings once again.

Two top-10s in February and a T25th result saw Scheffler pick up a shade over $1.8 million. Using the standard caddie cut as a guide, Scott could have welcomed almost $125,000 before March arrived.

The pro looper may well have picked up around $93,000 more in bonus money throughout March given there was a runner-up finish at the Houston Open and two further results between 11th and 20th completing Scheffler's three-tournament stretch.

In the run up to Scheffler's first win of the year at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson in May, the World No.1 really ramped up his earning power via a couple more top-10s. Tournaments seven to nine of the year garnered $3.37 million for Scheffler and a possible $290,000 or so for his bagman.

All in all, Scott could easily have banked more than half a million dollars in bonus money alone through the first nine events of the season on top of the undisclosed salary he picks up for being linked to the two-time Major winner.
