Wilson Staff C100 irons
The Golf Monthly test team reviews the Wilson Staff C100 irons, which feature exoskeleton weighting
Wilson’s Ci11 irons were a big step up from the Ci9 set, and the C100 set moves things forward again. The pleasing black finish and midsize head remain, but forgiveness has once again been improved. In addition, there’s a powerful feel off the face and extra distance in the air through the set. The two-tone design in the cavity makes the head look larger from the back, but this doesn’t affect the appearance at address. The Wilson Staff FG Tour M3 forged irons feature a more streamlined head without the need to sacrifice much forgiveness, as well as being very workable. Better players should explore both options.
Why you can trust Golf Monthly
The Golf Monthly test team reviews the Wilson Staff C100 irons, which feature exoskeleton weighting
Key technology The new Control iron in the Wilson Staff C100 range features exoskeleton weighting, which accounts for a third of the total head mass. This is designed to maximise forgiveness without the need for a large, chunky head. The stainless steel in the head is stronger than that used in the Ci11 irons, allowing a thinner face to be used, for added power and distance through the set.
Will suit... players after a forgiving iron with a midsize head.
