It was a good start to 2018 for the betting tips last week.

I picked Dustin Johnson to win the Sentry Tournament of Champions five points each way at 7/1. I hope some of you made some money from that.

There was also money won from Pat Perez in fourth. He was backed two points each way at 29/1.

In the last 16 years there have been 11 South African winners and there are always numerous home players in the top-10. My picks will reflect that...

BMW SA Open Golf Betting Tips Advised Bets

Jordan Smith - 5 points each way at 28/1 with Sportnation.bet - Despite the South Africa talk, I'm going with a Brit to win here for the second year in a row. Jordan Smith is a perennial winner, having won both the EuroPro and Challenge Tour Order of Merits in 2015 and 2016 before winning his first European Tour title in 2017. In just his fourth European Tour event here last season he was third and played in the final group with Storm and McIlroy. He's an outside bet for the Ryder Cup side and could edge closer with a win here.

Thomas Aiken - 2 points each way at 53/1 with Sportnation.bet - This is a slightly left-ball pick as Aiken isn't in fantastic form. However, he was T5th here last time out and has never won this tournament - that's surely something he'd like to change. He has won the Africa Open though, which was his last victory back in 2014. He's overdue a win and certainly has the experience to get over the line.

Trevor Fisher Jnr - 2 points each way at 70/1 with Sportnation.bet - Fisher Jnr was T5th here last here and T8th here the year before, plus he's South African and 70/1! Need I say more?

Justin Walters - 1 point each way at 100/1 with Sportnation.bet - The South African looks very tempting at these odds this week considering he was T21st here last year and T4th in 2016. His form certainly isn't great but it's his National Open, I'll have him at 100/1.

Please do bet responsibly and the best of luck to you.
