Bazza's Best Bets At The Tour Championship 2026: Who Wins The FedEx Cup At East Lake?

Another exciting season on the PGA Tour ends at East Lake this week, with the Tour Championship and FedEx Cup being awarded to one of the strong 30-man field.

After Wyndham Clark's explosive finish to claim the BMW Championship last week, we are expecting fireworks once again as the best players on tour battle it out for the coveted (and sizeable) prize.

Big names like Rickie Fowler and Justin Thomas were eliminated from the FedEx Cup Playoffs after the second event, while Champion Golfer of the Year Ryan Fox and Ryder Cup stars Viktor Hovland, Robert MacIntyre and Justin Rose squeezed into the top 30.

With plenty of course history, interesting correlation and top trends to utilise, our resident betting expert Baz Plummer has whittled the pack down to just two names that he likes in the season-ending event...

Top Tip: Collin Morikawa To Win @ BetMGM

Collin Morikawa is trending nicely at the business end of the season, with a 3rd place finish at the Travelers Championship and a T4 last week at the BMW Championship.

The three-time Major Champion also banked a top-20 finish at the US Open and the Open Championship this summer, but it's a change of fortunes on the greens that has caught me eye.

Morikawa has famously struggled with the flatstick for significant periods in the past 12 to 24 months, but a recent improvement with the flat stick has seen him gaining strokes on the field in SG: Putting quite consistently - which is dangerous for the field.

Morikawa is an elite ball striker who fits the bill at East Lake perfectly, perhaps explaining why he has been 6th and 2nd at the Tour Championship in two of his last three appearances.

If he can continue the hot run with the putter, Morikawa is a great pick at a good price.

Value Tip: Robert MacIntyre To Win @ BetMGM

I can't believe I am tipping MacIntyre after watching him shoot 82 in the opening round two weeks ago, especially after he withdrew from that event, but after listening to his post-round press conference yesterday, and watching his performance at the BMW Championship, I am convinced he is a good value bet this week.

MacIntyre has posted some good results this summer, with a T15, T10, T7 and T3 in his last six events (discarding the WD at the FedEx St. Jude).

Bob putted superbly at Bellerive in the final round and seemed to be managing any pain he is still experiencing from that knee fairly well, so I am ready to give him a chance.

A confident MacIntyre who is positive about his game cannot be underestimated, especially as he only just made it into the Tour Championship this week - so he really has nothing to lose!

Pick One: Scottie Scheffler To Win @ BetMGM

Due to a rules loophole in our Golf Monthly tipster challenge (created by betting guru Baz Plummer), I've been given one more chance to use Scottie Scheffler this season.

And I'm going to take it. Scheffler battled to a T12th result at the BMW Championship despite suffering with hand, foot and mouth disease over the past week.

If Scheffler can do that under that kind of duress, I'm confident he can contend at East Lake.

With wins or strong displays at corresponding courses, there are so many reasons to pick the World No.1 at the Tour Championship.

Pick Two: Ryan Gerard To Win @ BetMGM

Despite very few options in the sleeper category this week due to the 30-man field, I feel quietly confident in Ryan Gerard to prove excellent value.

The American put himself on my radar at last year's Mauritius Open on the DP World Tour when he finished runner-up, and he's carried on that form in spells throughout 2026.

He's been quietly hoovering up top-20s of late and has a runner-up this year at the Memorial Tournament on a course (Muirfield Village) which correlates to East Lake.

With an improvement to his putting stats since May as well, I'm backing Gerard to finish off his PGA Tour season in style.

Pick One: Rory McIlroy To Win @ BetMGM

I would not have seen myself picking McIlroy after the FedEx St. Jude Championship but an excellent display at the BMW means he is now a genuine contender for the FedExCup.

Considering he took three weeks off after The Open to largely go on vacation and turned up rusty for the Playoffs opener, his 3rd-place finish in St Louis was a real surprise.

The rust showed on the 71st hole but that experience of contending will help him at East Lake. His real focus is on the Majors, but I'm sure he'd be very keen to win a fourth FedExCup trophy, especially if he can get himself in the mix come the weekend.

Pick Two: Alex Smalley To Win @ BetMGM

I'd be surprised to see Smalley lift the trophy, but I can definitely see the American contending in the top-five come Sunday afternoon.

His consistency has been impressive this year with 12 top-25 finishes on the PGA Tour this season, including a 54-hole lead at the PGA Championship and two runner-ups.

He has made 19 of 23 cuts and has shown he has the ability to be considered among the circuit's best players this year.
