Best Golf Caps 2026
In this golf equipment piece we take a look at some of the best golf caps
As golfers, we all know how important a golf cap can be. Indeed getting one of the best golf hats for you, your game, and the time of year can be vital, and one of the most popular and versatile hat designs is the cap. Indeed there is a reason all the professionals wear them rather than bucket hats, trilby's or anything else. Besides offering protection from the sun, a cap offers you the chance to make a fashion statement and complement your look on the course. Most also offer technologies like moisture wicking fabric to keep you sweat free and comfortable.
Additionally, although many golfers prefer a classic golf cap, modern tour pros are mixing it up and making us question whether we should be more bold. Rickie Fowler and Brooks Koepka are two individuals who regularly choose the 'stand out from the crowd' design so why can't you? Bearing all of this mind, here are some of the best golf caps out there. Additionally be sure to check out some of our other golf guides as well - such as the best golf beanies, best golf tops or best golf waterproofs.

+ Keeps you cool in the heat
+ Comfortable fit
- Badge will divide opinion
A golf cap needs to offer protection and not distract you and this Under Armour model does this and then some. Despite the badge perhaps dividing opinion we actually liked the design and the mesh sections mean there is plenty of ventilation on hot days.
We certainly appreciated the Siro sweatband during our testing, which helps disperse body heat making it feel cool to the touch. The shape is quite tall at the top although the slight stretch in the rim created a snug but comfortable fit. The more curved brim is good to see as well as often golf caps can have brims that are very straight.

+ Color choice
+ Feature-packed
- Does feel a touch tall
One of the most important factors to consider when purchasing a hat is the aesthetic aspect, and Melin’s Odyssey Stacked Hydro effort is a great-looking accessory. And because the main section has a square front but is round at the back, it is eye-catching all while being practical.
The comfort was much appreciated, too, not always a given for people with larger heads. Additionally it is water-repellant, floatable, breathable, and comes in loads of good colors. Plus, the little pocket under the brim was so cool and a really nice feature that sets it apart from its competitors.

+ Comfortable and looks great
+ Simple performance
- Only a couple of colors to choose from
If you want a no-nonsense golf cap that has simplicity at its core then the Surfer Dude Performance cap from Johnnie-O is well worth considering in my opinion. I've tested a lot of apparel from the brand and the quality is outstanding across the board, and this cap is no exception. To some of you the word simple might be a negative but to me this cap just delivers in every way you would a golf cap to - it is comfortable, lightweight, easy to adjust, breathable and performs well in a variety of conditions.
I also think it looks good and has enough versatility for off course use as well. The only negative I could really think of is I wish there were more colors to choose from because currently there are only two to select.

+ Breathable material
+ Sharp aesthetic
- Obvious Guinness branding won’t appeal to all
The Perfect Pour hat from Sunday Swagger’s Guinness Snapback range is the ideal product for golfers who love a pint of the black stuff after a round. The cap is so clean visually and Sunday Swagger’s branding (on one side) is very subtle compared to the large ‘Guinness’ on the front. That won’t appeal to everyone, clearly, but it stands out nonetheless.
Also, I loved the little pint icon on the right side. From a practical standpoint, the Perfect Pour cap is made up of a breathable material around the head which keeps you cool and the adjustable notches on the back allow this cap to fit most head sizes comfortably.

+ On and off course use
+ Loads of colors
- Some may want a bit more aesthetically
If you want a simple, comfortable golf cap that does its job well and can be used on and off the golf course, then the Classic Ball Cap from Lululemon is well worth considering. Some golfers may want a bit more aesthetically, a central logo or print design, but for me the simplicity of the aesthetic lends itself to versatility. The array of colors means there is a model for everyone as well.
Performance wise the cotton fabric was comfortable, I found the cap to be breathable and it was easy to adjust with the back closure. Speaking of which the fit of the cap for me was excellent.

+ Comfy fit
+ Simple logo not overly golfy making it versatile
- Logo is quite large
The B-Bahamas cap is a solid offering from TravisMathew, offering good comfort, a wide brim for sun protection and adjustability to suit almost every head shape. In terms of styling the logo is certainly on the big side, which I wasn’t a huge fan of, but the overall shape of the cap is excellent. The synthetic design offers excellent breathability.
While the colour offering is fairly small, the four options can be paired with almost anything. While TravisMathew is a widely recognised golf brand the logo isn’t overly golfy, making it a great choice for those who want to wear the hat on or off the golf course. All in all, the hat isa very solid choice that does the basics well without being too flashy and in your face.

+ Looks great
+ Moisture wicking
- Only two colorways
The Jupiter snapback cap from Puma is a classy golf cap that will help you stand out on the golf course. It offers something a little different to your standard caps with its trucker, six-panel style and old-school Puma Golf Company lettering.
It offers a great fit and is sold in one size fits all, so you can adjust in to your preference via the rubber closure system at the back. It comes with a moisture wicking sweatband and has a lightweight feel. It works great off the course, too, so overall we think it’s a real hit. It’s good value for money, too.

+ Plenty of colors available
+ Elasticated fit provides comfort
- Some may want a slightly more exciting design
The Heath Cap is a versatile choice that can be worn both on and off course thanks to its relatively simple design, featuring the classic J.Lindeberg bridge logo front and centre. Some may desire something a bit more jazzy, but if safe and simple is what you are after then this cap will deliver exactly what you need.
Thanks to the simple to use closure at the back, the hat can be adjusted easily to a wide range of sizes, and the elasticated fit provides exceptional comfort. While this cap may not deliver the eye catching visuals that JL is known for, it offers fantastic comfort and versatility.

+ A comfortable, colourful cap
+ Subtle branding
- Only available in two colors
Some golfers wear a hat for practical reasons and to protect themselves from the elements, while others view a cap as more of a fashion statement. The Ping Nicolo covers both bases. Often, you’ll find hats with big, bold lettering, which isn’t to everyone’s tastes. The Nicolo has a subtle logo at the front, which will be far more pleasing to some. The color combinations work well, too, bringing a bit of vibrancy and personality to proceedings through the linear foliage print. The velcro adjustor on the back means it will fit a wide variety of head shapes. There’s also a moisture-wicking inner headband.

+ Good quality
+ Made from recycled material
- No white colorway
The Lincoln Cap from Reflo is a high quality hat that feels soft to the touch and very well made. It is lightweight and importantly offers up sun protection while the 100% recycled polyester is a nice tough to help the environment. The 3D printed logo is also made from recycled yarn. We would say it is quite in-your-face branding and would love to see an option with just the circled ‘R’ which we think looks great on the back of the hat. In terms of sizing, it is fully adjustable and comes in four different colorways - although there is no white option which is a shame. The material feels quick-drying and overall we would rate this highly among the best golf caps on the market that could easily be your new go-to. It also comes in at a good price.

+ Highly breathable
+ Modern, stylish design
- Limited off-course versatility
Galvin Green has definitely upped its cap game in 2026 with the Shane, a highly breathable yet stylish cap that would perfectly cap off, pardon the pun, any outfit this summer. Designed for maximum comfort and weather protection, it features the same Ventil8 Plus found in its polo shirts.
This fabric is exceptionally breathable and moisture-wicking, ensuring your head stays cool and dry even during the most humid rounds. The cap is designed with a lightweight, structured fit and includes an adjustable tab at the back for a customized, secure feel. We enjoyed the sleek, modern aesthetic with subtle branding to ensure you can match it with multiple outfits and it doesn’t overpower everything else that you’re wearing. In testing it has proven to be a durable, quick-drying essential that combines Galvin Green’s signature premium craftsmanship with everyday on-course functionality.

+ Very well constructed
+ Water repellent
+ No funky base colors
As someone who has played golf for approaching half a century, I must have owned getting on for a million caps! Ok, perhaps not quite that many, but enough to understand that modern materials and construction techniques have led to a greatly improved product and wearing experience. The Cowan Cap is no exception and is extremely comfortable with a flexible sweatband that will stop the discolouring at the front that used to occur years ago.
The embossed/raised logo is stylishly done, as is the neat tab beside the fully adjustable strap at the back. So, too, is the internal support banding. My only question mark would be that many golfers, myself included, tend to go for the name of a golf club that is close to their heart rather than a clothing brand.

+ Excellent fit, especially for larger heads.
+ Standout styling and comfort
- The bold “Bad” branding may be a bit loud for some
The ‘Bad’ hat is a standout piece that nails both style and fit. I’ve got a larger head than most and to be honest, most caps just don’t look good on me. This one is a very nice fit though thanks to the adjustable snapback and well-shaped crown.
The lightweight, sweat-resistant fabric keeps it comfortable all day, while the bold script embroidery and rope detail give it real character. However, the branding may be a little too ‘in your face’ for some.

+ One size fits all as its adjustable
+ Comfortable to wear for long periods
- Modern design might not be to all tastes
Designed with performance in mind, this cap is built for staying cool when the temperature rises. Ventilated panels promote airflow to reduce heat build-up, while the lightweight stretch fabric delivers all-day comfort without feeling restrictive.
The streamlined fit keeps things secure through every swing, and the classic Jet Black finish makes it easy to pair with any on-course outfit. A simple, functional option that blends performance and clean style for everyday golf wear.

+ Subtle looks
+ Lightweight means a cooler head
- Velcro closure not as secure as some
I spend a lot of time in caps, mainly to cover up bad hair days and increasingly – sadly – to keep the sun off of my ever-increasing bald patch. The Ted Baker Ripstop cap looks like it’ll be doing some heavy-lifting this summer as it’s exactly the kind of headwear I like – understated, lightweight and breathable. (The color matches what’s left of the hair too.)
The only minor criticism I have is of the closure strap. It’s simply two Velcro backed straps that grip together, so getting a tight fit when the wind is blowing can be hit and miss. Hat has exited head a couple of times in a breeze, so I’d prefer a single strap that loops back on itself for added security.
How we test golf equipment
We test golf caps in the same manner as every other piece of golf equipment, thoroughly. This involves using caps out on the golf course, over a number of rounds and in different conditions, whether that be in terms of weather, temperature and so on.
We think it is by using golf gear regularly that we can gain an understanding of the product and see how it performs in every day life. Every member of the Golf Monthly team plays golf regularly and can put caps to the test on a regular basis as well, and one final point to mention is no manufacturer can buy a good review because our team of testers tells it how it is.
How to choose a golf cap
There are several factors to consider when choosing a golf cap, let's take a look at those here.
Type
Golf caps often come in a variety of different designs especially when it comes to the bill design. A lot of brands these days go with the classic curved bill but they also make flat-bill designs as well so it is worth having a think about which you would prefer.
Comfort
At the end of the day a golf cap has to be comfortable because if it isn't, then you will probably get distracted or take it off during the round. Therefore we would recommend trying on models or picking models that have been specifically designed to be comfortable with technologies to help in this regard.
Protection
A good golf cap should also protect you from the sun thanks to the fabric, brim design, and also many have UV protection built into them. As a result, have a read of the specifications of caps before buying so you can see what level of protection is on offer.
Colors
What color do you want your cap to be? Do you want to make a fashion statement or go for a special edition model? Golf caps these days come in a huge range of colors, designs and collections so it is worth having a browse and working out what you want from your cap in terms of looks.
Budget
Our final factor is budget. Before buying a golf cap it is worth thinking about how much you are willing to spend on a model. Thankfully, as our list above shows, here are models at every price point from premium brands and ones that offer more value.
FAQ's
Do you have to wear a cap when you play golf?
No, not necessarily. Golfers are not required to wear hats when they play but hats have become a style norm and a useful item to wear to keep the sun out of your eyes and your head warm or cool.
Is it better to wear a bucket hat or cap when playing golf?
Bucket hats can help players protect themselves from the rain and the elements, providing a shield to your neck shoulders and back from the rain. They can also protect you from the sun and it's harmful rays, akin to a cap. Many golfers prefer to wear a cap though, as these are slightly smaller and more ergonomic and do not get in the way of your swing as much
Why do golfers wear caps?
Golfers wear caps for several reasons. Chief among which is caps protect golfers eyes from the sun and also allow them to follow the golf ball as it moves through the air better. Caps also protect the head from the sun and they often act as a kind of fashion statement too. Finally professional golfers wear caps for all of those reasons, as well as giving brands they are signed with an opportunity to publicize their logo and brand.
