TaylorMade launches SLDR fairways and rescues
Following on from the launch of the SLDR driver, TaylorMade has announced the launch of five SLDR fairway woods and four SLDR hybrids.
The new TaylorMade SLDR clubs feature a lower and more forward centre of gravity and an improved speed pocket for optimum distance.
Like the SLDR driver - the most popular driver on the PGA and European tours - weight is re-located to the front of the head to promote faster ball speed, a higher launch angle and a low spin rate.
According to TaylorMade research, the SLDR fairway is the company's longest ever adjustable fairway wood.
"We have heard from all types of golfers, ranging from weekend players to tour pros, that SLDR is the longest TaylorMade driver they have hit," said Tom Olsavsky, TaylorMade's Senior Director of Product Creation for Metalwoods.
The new SLDR fairways and rescues also come with an improved Speed Pocket, which increased face flexibility to promote faster ball speed. It also boasts a polymer fill to keep grass and debris out of the pocket.
The smaller Speed Pocket also promotes faster ball speeds across a larger percentage of the club face.
The new SLDR clubs come with the same aesthetics and shape as the driver, with the dark crown colour and silver-coloured clubface facilitating easier alignment.
In addition, TaylorMade Loft-Sleeve technology enables golfers to adjust the loft 1.5 degrees up or down.
SLDR fairway wood models - equipped with the Fujikura 77 graphite shaft - are as follows: Tour Spoon (14 degrees), 3 (15 degrees), 3HL (17 degrees), 5 (19 degrees) and 5HL (21 degrees).
SLDR rescues - with the Fujukura Speeder 82 shaft - are available in 2 (17 degrees), 3 (19 degrees), 4 (21 degrees) and 5 (24 degrees).
The stock SLDR rescues have a RRP of £179 and the fairway woods £199. The fairway woods are available from November 21 and the rescue from November 1.
