A guide to the sixteenth hole on the Old Course at Royal Troon ahead of the 145th Open Championship
Royal Troon Golf Club Hole by Hole: Hole 16
The 16th is known as 'Well' because of the fresh water well near the Course Manager's house.
The tee shot must be short of the burn, which also runs across the 3rd fairway, but at 294-yards into the prevailing wind a lot of players won't be able to reach.

From the fairway it's a simple layup with a long iron or fairway wood which will leave around 80-100 yards in.
The green has three bunkers to the right and two on the left and is 36-yards long so a par is no disgrace.
