The big three teed it up on the ninth to start their round, Speith came out on top by shooting a round of 69 to post three under par. Rory was oncourse to follow in similar suit to Spieth but a double bogey on the last left Mcilroy deflated with a total of 71.
Aussie Jason Day had a fairly average round at even Par, with four birdies cancelled out by four bogey's, Jason found himself slightly disapointed by the finish.
Scott Piercey made seven birdies in his first eleven holes but two bogey's on 14 and 18 meant he had to share the lead with Marcus Fraser.
Fraser made just one bogey over the stretch of 18 holes, and seven birdies meant he also posted a first round of 66.
Play starts again on Friday at 16:10pm UK time, with the big three Rory, Spieth and Day teeing it up at 17:38pm UK time.
