Lucas Glover has won the Wells Fargo Championship at Quail Hollow after beating Jonathan Byrd in a playoff.
The 2009 US Open champion started the final day joint third and managed four birdies and an eagle to finish 15-under-par and take the clubhouse lead.
Byrd had the overnight lead but could only card a level-par 72 on the final day, which included a dramatic 15-foot putt on the 18th, which leveled Glover and forced a playoff.
The two then replayed the 18th. Byrd struggled and a poor shot from the hazard meant Glover, who found the putting surface in two, had two putts for his first win in 41 starts.
He now sits 27th in the FedExCup and is hoping his third career victory will help him in next week's Player's Championship at TPC Sawgrass.
Rory Sabbatini made up the top three with a bogey-free final round of 65.
Elsewhere, Padraig Harrington was the highest placed finisher of the European contingent. His 10-under-par was enough to secure a share of ninth place with Phil Mickleson.
