How the popular Texan, who only turned 22 in July, has spent this season shattering many golfing records
March 15: Spieth wins the Valspar Championship at the third extra hole of a three-way play-off. This win takes him to 6th in the Official World Golf Ranking.
April 5: Spieth loses in a sudden-death play-off at the Shell Houston Open, having held the 54-hole lead.
April 9: Shoots an opening round eight-under par 64 at the US Masters, becoming the youngest player to lead the Masters at this stage. His round was one off the course record.
April 10: Breaks the 36-hole record at the US Masters by adding a 66 to his opening 64.
April 11: Breaks the 54-hole record at US Masters after a third round 70.
April 12: Spieth wins the US Masters, his first Major title, with an 18-under-par 270. This tied the record Masters score set by Tiger Woods in 1997. Only Woods has been a younger Masters winner. This win moves Spieth to second in the Official World Golf Ranking.
June 21: Spieth’s 2015 season goes from strength to strength when he win the US Open, becoming only the sixth player to win the Masters and the US Open back to back, and the first since Tiger Woods in 2002. He becomes the youngest man to win the US Open since Bobby Jones in 1923.
July 12: Wins the John Deere Classic and shoots the lowest round of his professional career, a third-round 61.
July 19: Spieth’s 2015 season will not be a grand slam one when he finishes fourth in The Open, one stroke off a play-off. He had been tied for the lead but bogeyed the 71st hole.
August 16: Ends runner-up to Jason Day at the USPGA Championship, but this takes him to World No 1 for the first time.
September 27: Wins the Tour Championship, Spieth’s sixth PGA Tour victory of his career. At 22, Jordan Spieth is the youngest player to win five times in a PGA Tour season since 21-year-old Horton Smith in 1929.
He is also the youngest-ever winner of both the Tour Championship and the FedEx Cup(Ok, these are some of his less impressive achievements bearing in mind the Tour Championship is only 28 years old and the FedEx Cup eight years old). He is also the first player in history to win the Masters and the Tour Championship in the same year.
With his $1.4 million winning share, Spieth set a record for Tour earnings in a year with $12,030,465 - and the figure does not include his $10 million for winning the FedEx Cup.
With the victory, and with Jason Day finishing outside the top five, Spieth is once again No. 1 in the Official World Golf Ranking.
