Ian Poulter ripped into Chambers Bay this morning with a 327-word instagram post about the state of the greens at the US Open venue.
This came after his criticism before the start of the tournament stating the course was a "complete farce". This time around, he said the greens were "the worst most disgraceful surfaces I have ever seen", with the accompanying picture showing he may have a point.
The poa annua and fescue mix on the greens at Chambers Bay has received numerous complaints from other fellow tour pros including Billy Horschel, Sergio Garcia and Colin Montgomerie, with the key issues cited being the varying green speeds between greens and the different growth speeds of the two types of grass.
Ultimately however, the most consistent player all week won as did the best putter in the world; maybe the greens weren't so bad after all? In addition, the leaderboard all weekend was congested with big names and was also conspicuous by Poulter's unsurprising absence.
Perhaps it might be beneficial for Poulter to curtail his "whining" as many commenters on the post said, until he has won again on a course with the perfect surfaces he plays on week in week out.
