In a weekend of golf filled with bizarre events across the planet; Allenby, Woods – one occurance topped them all from a punters perspective – Martin Kaymer's astonishing blow-out in Abu Dhabi.
When Kaymer, 14/1 pre-event, surged into a 10 shot lead on Sunday some bookies had him at 1/500 to win.
There was more chance of Tiger Woods losing a tooth while spectating the super-G in Italy than Kaymer not winning there...
But Frenchman Stal, which is German for steal, did quite literally pinch the title from the 2-time major winner. And for the lucky people that backed Gary Stal, 150/1 was up for grabs Monday morning. Rory McIlroy (4/1), Victor Dubuisson (14/1) and Thomas Pieters (250/1) rounded out the top 5.
Notably, if you managed to grab 6 places at Paddy Power, James Morrison (250/1) sneaked a tie for 6th position.

Over on the PGA Tour, it was a more routine weekend with Jimmy Walker (18/1) looking imperious on his way to a 4th career title.
The win was even more impressive on the back of his near Kaymer-esque collapse the week before. There was less value in offing than it's European sister tour with Harris English (40/1), Gary Woodland (50/1) and Matt Kuchar finishing in the top 5 alongside a rejuvinated Scott Piercy (100/1) – good to see him playing well again.
And as usual we always like to make you feel sad about yourselves – a £1 win on the Gary Stal, Jimmy Walker double payed £2900.
If you didn't know already, DownThe18th and Golf Monthly will be locking horns each week on both tours in a £10 challenge.
In short, we have £10 per tournament to spend on whatever or whoever we want. Most profit, wins. Abu Dhabi and the Sony Open signalled the start of this challenge. So how did we fare?
Golf Monthly made their European stake back from Martin Kaymer's 3rd place although it will have undeniably felt like a loss after his already talked about demise.
And after staring down the barrel for most of the weekend thanks to Kaymer, a couple of 6th placed finishes from Tyrrell Hatton and Jerry Kelly clawed back a few pounds to spare our blushes. After what could have been a lot bigger deficit, the standings after 1 week are: DownThe18th £-10.88 Golf Monthly £-10.
