Why you can trust Golf Monthly
Accra has long established itself in the premium custom shaft market, offering precision-engineered products that cater to the exacting needs of elite club fitters.
Its Tour Z line is built on 15 years of success on professional tours, promising unparalleled stability without sacrificing player feedback. I recently put both the Tour Z Red and Tour Z Green profiles through their paces to see if their on-course performance matched the premium billing.
Accra Tour Z Shaft Review: How We Test Shafts
All of our shaft testing is conducted using the same TaylorMade Qi35 core head driver set to a precise 9 degrees (measured), with each shaft cut to an exact length of 45.5 inches, fitted with a Golf Pride Tour Velvet 60R grip. Furthermore, all testing shots are struck from a white castle tee to ensure consistent tee height during testing.
The data is collected and recorded using a Foresight Sports GC3 launch monitor and TaylorMade TP5x golf balls.
Controlling these potential variables allows me to draw accurate and direct comparisons and form a clear picture of each shaft's performance and feel characteristics.
Accra Tour Z Shafts Review: Technology
Both the Tour Z Red and Green models utilize premium high-modulus materials to ensure enhanced stability from the butt section all the way down to the tip.
The Red is billed as the lowest-launching and lowest-spinning model in the line, explicitly designed for players with quick transitions who are seeking ultimate control.

The Green is engineered as a slightly higher-launching counterpart while still maintaining a tour-caliber, low-spin profile.
What I absolutely love about Accra’s approach is the integration of its DyMatch technology. Rather than requiring club builders to extensively tip-cut a driver shaft to make it usable in a 3-wood, Accra manufactures dedicated, dynamically matched fairway wood shafts. This ensures the exact feel and performance profile translate perfectly as you move down your bag.
This doesn’t end at fairway woods either; there are dedicated offerings for both hybrids and utility irons, which is a somewhat unique but very clever offering.
Accra Tour Z Shafts Review: Performance
During my testing, the Red profile emerged as one of the most 'together' shafts I have ever tested.
Sometimes, to me, it feels as though different sections of a shaft can work in very different ways - stout sections competing harshly with softer sections, for example. However, the overriding feel I got from the Red was that all sections were working in complete unison, and the result was a delightfully smooth feel for a shaft touted as 'low launch/spin', which is a category so often littered with 'boardy', non-responsive pokers.
The quality of manufacturing was abundantly clear from the consistency of my Foresight Sports GC3 launch monitor data, yielding very little fluctuation in spin rates and a pleasingly tight down-range dispersion. Honestly, both the Red and Green profiles staked an immediate claim for a place in my bag.
In terms of the Green, it was really just more of the same. I was expecting a more notably different feel out of this supposedly slightly higher-launching profile, but I really had to dig down into the minutiae to pick out any differences. I'm not sure if that is a good or bad thing - I am used to more obviously different feels between profiles - but I was so enamoured with my initial testing of the Red that I wasn't bothered at all.
When you really concentrate, you can sense just a fraction more play in the Green, although due to the exceptional balance they offer, I couldn't pinpoint exactly where. Dispersion remained reassuringly tight, but I was expecting maybe a little more difference in my data, though as always, that is highly player-dependent.
Sometimes, when dropping into more of a ‘mid’ profile shaft, along with the slight extra feel comes a sense of needing to babysit it a little more through impact than the tighter profiles of the black options from Fujikura or white from Mitsubishi, for example, but not so here. The feel is beautifully complemented by reassuring stability.
As hoped, the fairway versions of both profiles performed beautifully for me too, feeling extremely comfortable to move, without feeling in any way weak or lacking heft.
Accra Tour Z Shafts Review: Verdict
If you are someone delving into the aftermarket shaft world for the first time, the Tour Z range is a brilliant place to start. I would say, along with the Tour-proven levels of manufacturing quality, this might be the ultimate centre point of feel versus stability.
Both shafts offer a wonderfully crafted, highly consistent midpoint of comfort and performance to pivot off if you are ever looking for anything more niche or specific than a balanced, high-quality feel.
Personally, I might well not be pivoting anywhere!
