South African Rory Sabbatini wins the HP Byron Nelson Championship

South African Rory Sabbatini won for the first time in two years when he managed to win by two shots over England’s Brian Davis to win the $1,170,000 first prize.

Sabbatini fired eight birdies and two bogeys in his final round of 64. His bogey on the last set up by taking a 3-wood off the tee to keep the water out of play.

Sabbatini’s final total of 19 under par is a course record, and his back nine of 31 in the final round really was a great effort with birdie’s being holed all around him.

“Obviously I saw some low scores out there, and I knew I was going to have to go out there and play well in order to maintain my position.” Said Sabbatini.
