St Andrews Old Course was named the World’s Best Golf Course for the second year in succession at the second annual World Golf Awards.
With an estimated 60 million golfer visits taking place in 2015 to the 32,000 golf courses and resorts worldwide, the World Golf Awards focuses on the leading 130 nations who are shaping the future of this dynamic industry.
So awards are also made on a country-by-country basis as well as the overall ones.
The Brabazon at the Belfry was again named as England’s Best Course of 2015 at the World Golf Awards. This course has hosted more Ryder Cup matches than any other.
This is an interesting award as the course divides opinions, some believing it relies too strongly on the excellence of its 10th and 18th holes for its reputation.
It was a good night for The Belfry as it also won the award for England’s Best Golf Hotel.
