What Is The International Series?
After eight tournaments throughout 2025, the LIV Golf-backed, elevated series on the Asian Tour heads for its final event of the season at the PIF Saudi International
The International Series has been a huge addition to the Asian Tour in recent years and has opened a pathway for the circuit's top players to earn a golden ticket to the lucrative LIV Golf League.
Introduced in 2022, The International Series is a set of elevated events on the Asian Tour calendar backed by LIV Golf in a landmark US$300m strategic partnership.
It all started with the International Series Thailand in March 2022 and has gone from strength to strength since to sit as a truly established part of the global golfing landscape, with events taking place across Asia, the UK, Africa and the Middle East in a mix of established and emerging golf markets.
Everything is elevated on The International Series, including the prize pools of at least US$2m and the strength of fields, with many LIV players adding International Series tournaments to their schedule.
Earlier this year we saw Bryson DeChambeau tee it up in India for the first time in his career with the inaugural International Series India, held at the renowned DLF Golf and Country Club.
DeChambeau made his first ever pro start in India earlier this year
Along with featuring LIV Golf players in the field, where they can earn crucial Official World Golf Ranking points, The International Series tournaments help to develop Asian Tour talent who get the opportunity and experience of competing against the best for huge prize funds.
Some of the game's biggest stars have come through the Asian Tour at some point in time, including the likes of Cameron Smith and Tom Kim in recent years, and The International Series is certainly another way to develop the best up-and-coming players from the Asia-Pacific region and beyond.
Joaquin Niemann is one of the sport's top players right now with seven LIV Golf wins in the last two seasons, and he defeated a host of LIV Golf’s biggest names in Riyadh last December at the PIF Saudi International powered by SoftBank Investment Advisers to clinch The International Series Rankings at the last gasp.
Niemann topped the 2024 International Series rankings
He followed on from 2023 International Series Rankings winner Andy Ogletree, the former US Amateur champion, who earned his LIV Golf spot and went on to join Phil Mickelson’s HyFlyers GC.
This year’s International Series has been reduced to nine tournaments due to the inaugural International Series Cambodia not taking place as planned in light of recent developments in the region.
As of writing, just one event remains on the International Series calendar, the PIF Saudi International, as players battle it out for two spots on the LIV Golf League.
This is a new addition to the circuit in 2025, as LIV Golf recently announced that two cards would be up for grabs for the top two eligible players in the International Series Rankings at the end of the season - an increase from the usual one on offer.
We’re eight tournaments down so far this season, with Ollie Schniederjans winning his first pro title in nine years at the inaugural International Series India presented by DLF.
Shortly afterwards, Torque GC's Carlos Ortiz triumphed at the International Series Macau presented by Wynn to earn one of three spots in The Open Championship.
Ripper GC's Lucas Herbert then came out on top in the inaugural International Series Japan presented by Moutai, with Scott Vincent, the 2022 Rankings champion and former Iron Heads GC player sealing the second International Series trophy of his career in Morocco.

A lengthy break then occurred, with the Jakarta International Championship signalling the start of a busy stretch of golf that included five International Series events in a seven week stretch.
Wade Ormsby was the victor in Jakarta via a playoff win over Vincent. A fortnight later, Miguel Tabuena claimed the International Series Philippines in his home country, firing back-to-back 65s over the weekend for a three stroke victory.
The following week, Tom McKibbin produced a masterclass at the Link Hong Kong Open, ending the week seven shots clear of RangeGoats GC's Peter Uihlein. McKibbin's 27-under total was a tournament record in Hong Kong and earned him spots at The Masters and Open Championship.
Following that event, the circuit headed to the Moutai Singapore Open, where Yosuke Asaji defeated Jeunghun Wang with a birdie at the first playoff hole to secure a first Asian Tour victory in six-and-a-half years.
Going into the final event at Riyadh Golf Club, it's Vincent and Asaji who have the top two spots locked down, with Vincent looking to return to the LIV Golf League after being a part of the Iron Heads GC.
Sitting on 325.59 points, Vincent is just 40 points ahead of Asaji, who leads Tabuena by 53, making the final event in Saudi Arabia crucial for the outcome of the International Series Rankings.
