Moul tops World Amateur Ranking
Suffolk star climbs four places to depose Rory McIlroy at the top of the new R&A World Amateur Golf Ranking
England international Jamie Moul is the new number one in the R&A World Amateur Golf Ranking.
Moul from Stoke-by-Nayland Golf Club in Suffolk, who has a points average of 1,138.10, moved up three places in the rankings to depose Rory McIlroy from Ireland.
US Amateur champion Richie Ramsay from Scotland stays third while Welshman Rhys Davies retains his place in seventh. England?s Gary Wolstenholme moves up one spot to 10th following his victory in Australia while Nigel Edwards (Wales) drops two to 12th and Seve Benson (England) falls one to 15th.
Although 22-year-old Moul had a disappointing performance in the recent Jones Cup in the United States, his ranking is based on a 52-week average. Consequently players can drop down the rankings if they had a good week a year ago which is now discounted.
