So, in what surely represents my biggest number of pre-tournament selections ever, I'm going in with a portfolio of ten players. Because the total layout on all ten is just 17 points, we're actually taking less risk than most weeks and certainly most Majors. If any one of the ten finish can grab a place, most of the stake will be covered. Here are the magnificent ten. STEVE STRICKER is a man I never seem to catch right, but while that is a slight deterrant, he looks solid each-way value at 35/1. The closest Stricker ever came to Major glory was in the USPGA 11 years ago at Sahalee, when edged out by Vijay Singh. He seems a better player now in his forties, with this season's seven top-7 finishes, including two victories, a return that anyone else bar Tiger would envy. Everything points to a good week. He plays tough courses well, excels with his long irons and has the world-class scrambling skills that are always required in a Major. Another PGA Tour stalwart with memories of a near-miss in the USPGA is KENNY PERRY, even if they have since been eclipsed by a disastrous finish to blow this year's Masters title. At least that nightmare hasn't affected his confidence, as an outstanding victory in the recent Travelers Championship illustrated. Perry's ball-striking stats have been superb of late, and as one of the very best long-iron players around is bound to enjoy this test. The same player has won the season's final two majors three times already this century, including Harrington last year, and STEWART CINK is no forlorn hope to become the fourth. Sixth at Firestone was a nice result on his first start since Turnberry, and as he reached the top-10 in 2002, we know Hazeltine suits. Few men are better placed to assess Cink's chances than his coach Butch Harmon, so its interesting that Butch picked him out for the PGA during last week's coverage. GEOFF OGILVY also took the eye at Firestone, a course that has never been one of his favourites, and in doing so buried the memory of that disastrous performance at the Open. Ogilvy's superb record in the biggest events always warrants respect, and he looks well up to landing a second Major title. This one would appear to be his best chance, as he's never missed a cut in the USPGA and made three consecutive top-10s from 2005 to 2007.
