Strong field for HSBC World Match Play
The likes of Padraig Harrington, Angel Cabrera, Retief Goosen and Ernie Els will be at Wentworth this October although Jim Furyk and Tiger Woods are yet to confirm.
An illustrious field is preparing to gather for the HSBC World Match Play Championship at Wentworth, and compete for the largest winning prize in golf ? £1million.
Defending champion Paul Casey faces a tough task to retain his title with Padraig Harrington and Angel Cabrera both set to turn out on the famous West Course.
Two-time US Open champion Retief Goosen and fellow South African Ernie Els, the world number three, will be playing after rediscovering some of their best form in recent weeks. World number 15 Justin Rose, who did not finish outside the top 12 in any Major in 2007, will be there, as will the USA?s Jerry Kelly and the ever-exciting Andres Romero.
Sweden?s Niclas Fasth secured his place after his performance at last week?s USPGA Championship, while Colin Montgomerie and Anders Hansen have also qualified in recent weeks.
Two more places will be handed out based on the European Order of Merit positions, while three more players, including world number one Tiger Woods, remain unconfirmed. Whether or not the likes of Woods and Jim Furyk decide to pitch up at Wentworth, between October 11 and 14, a superb tournament is guaranteed once more and the crowds will have plenty to cheer about with the elite field on show.
