Maybank Malaysian Open golf betting guide
The European Tour travels from the Middle East to Asia this week, with the Maybank Malaysian Open taking place at the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club.
Lee Westwood defends and following a good performance in Dubai last weekend he is not surprisingly favourite. At 13/2 though there is not great value for a player who is not playing at his best quite yet.
Westwood is joined at the top of the betting markets by Bernd Wiesberger (11/1) Graeme McDowell (14/1) and Danny Willett (14/1). All are in excellent form, but would have liked them to be around the 20/1 mark to back them.
This is the 4th week of our betting challenge against Down the 18th and we will again be putting our £10 against theirs to see who can pick the winners. For last week’s results, check out their blog.
Advised Maybank Malaysian Open bets
Andy Sullivan £2 each way at 25/1 The diminutive Englishman has been in cracking form recently. And mic that with the fact he was the 54-hole leader here last season, he is certainly someone to back.
Thongchai Jaidee £1 each way at 40/1 The two-time champion is always someone to consider at the course. Has played steady golf over the last few weeks with some unspectacular results. Look to him changing that this week.
Alvaro Quiros £1 each way at 60/1 – This course usually suits someone who hits a big ball and the Spaniard shot a stunning 64 in Dubai last Sunday. Hopefully he can carry this on here, where he finished T13th in 2014 and had not finished outside the top 30 in three attempts.
Rikard Karlberg £1 each way at 80/1 – Looking for someone who can hit it a country mile, the Swede is currently 2nd on the driving distance stats and is also hitting 73% of Greens in regulation. Mix this with the fact he finished 5th here last season, and don’t miss out on this generous price.
All prices from Paddy Power, each way bets 1/4 odds Top 5 places. Please bet responsibly.
