Former Ryder Cup Captain, Bernard Langer, claimed his first European Seniors Tour title at the Casa Serena Open after carding a third consecutive four under par 67.
In so doing, the 51-year old beat Ian Woosnam, himself a Ryder Cup Captain in 2006, into second place and closed the gap on the Welshman at the top of the Order of Merit.
It was also a battle of former Masters Champions and it was the German who made it home first with a total score of 201 which amazingly included only one dropped shot.
The win, near Prague, sits nicely alongside Langer s 1997 Czech Open triumph and the German reflected: It s pretty special winning here in the Czech Republic where my dad was born and my brother is running the tournament. It s pretty cool.
Playing alongside Ian and Peter (Mitchell) was also special. Both guys played very well but just didn t make any putts. I played with Ian at The Senior Open Championship in July and he is very competitive. I played well in that tournament too so it has been a great year for me over here this year.
