Gary Wolstenholme bowed out in style with a 1 shot victory in the 2008 Keepmoat Lee Westwood Trophy. In the distinguished amateur s final competition before turning professional, Wolstenholme shot an impressive four round total of 267: 13 under par.

In second place was the Yorkshire county and local player Sam Haywood who fired a stunning final round 63. Haywood made 5 birdies in the last 7 holes to narrow what was a 6 shot deficit from Wolstenholme and place the former World Amateur Champion under severe pressure coming up the last. Wolstenholme held his nerve to secure victory, holing a tricky 7 foot putt in view of the majestic gothic club house at Rotherham Golf Club.
