Mahan wins on PGA Tour

Hunter Mahan birdied the first play-off hole to defeat Jay Williamson and win the Travelers Championship.

Hunter Mahan shot a final round of 65 on his way to winning his first PGA Tour event, the Travelers Championship. The 25-year-old American then birdied the first play-off hole to defeat Jay Williamson, who had lead by one going into the final round.

Mahan trailed fellow American Williamson by one after bogeys on 16 and 17 but made birdie at the last to force sudden death. Williamson had a chance to win on the last but missed his birdie putt.
