De Vere Slaley Hall raises £19,000 for charity
De Vere Slaley Hall has raised £200,000 since the event's inception
De Vere Slaley Hall recently hosted its 15th annual
Charity Day, which raised over £19,000 for local charity, The Variety Club. Since its inception, the tournament at the Northumberland venue has raised £200,000. The proceeds were raised the weekend after the annual Past Captain's Charity Golf Day at the club.
The club welcomes a host of local businesses to raise money for a variety of charities including the Children's Cancer Unit at the Royal Victoria Infirmary, the RSPCA, the Medical Foundation, Macmillan Cancer Support, and Mencap.
26 teams took part in the tournament, which was played at the Hunting Course, which previously hosted the De Vere Club PGA Seniors Championship on the European Seniors Tour. The teams' full-day itinerary included a TaylorMade experience, an auction and a raffle.
Keith Pickard, De Vere Slaley Hall's director of golf, said: "We're delighted with the sum raised again this year, which speaks volumes for the quality of the event. So many members and guests take time out of their schedules to make this a success and we're extremely grateful for everybody's support."
