1. Johnson was born in Iowa City, Iowa, in the United States.
2. He attended Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa where he has said on multiple occasions that he was not the best golfer on the team. Whilst there he helped the team to three NCAA (National College Athletic Association) regional events and two Missouri Valley Championships.
3. He is one of six golfers to have won a Major at Augusta National and St Andrews. He collected his Masters win in 2007 and his Open Championship win came in 2015. The other five golfers are Jack Nicklaus, Sam Snead, Severiano Ballesteros, Nick Faldo and Tiger Woods.
4. Zach is a five-time Ryder Cup player, and yet has only won with the US team once, back in 2016. His other appearances came in 2006, 2010, 2012, and 2014. He was also named captain of the US team for the 2023 Ryder Cup.
5. Johnson began playing golf at age 10.
6. He counts himself as a big Iowa Hawkeye football and basketball fan.

7. His victory at the 2007 Masters allowed him to join Jack Fleck, the 1955 U.S. Open winner, as the only native Iowans to win one of golf’s four major championships.
8. He turned pro in 1998 and played on the Hooters Tour before eventually topping the 2003 Nationwide Tour money list to secure his PGA Tour card in 2004. He would win the BellSouth Classic during that 2004 season.
9. Johnson has been married to Kim Barclay since 2003 and they have three children together, Will, Wyatt and Abby Jane.
10. With his wife, he has his own foundation, called the Zach Johnson Foundation which helps children and families in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
11. In fact Johnson received the 2020 Payne Stewart Award in honor of his character, sportsmanship and dedication to charitable giving.
12. We believe he currently resides in St. Simons Island, Georgia.
13. Annually hosts approximately 50 college golfers at his house for a College Golf Fellowship retreat.
14. Johnson has made nearly $50 million in career earnings on the PGA Tour.
