Duca Del Cosma Churchill Golf Shoe Review
Find out why the Churchill was selected for Editor's Choice 2022
If ever there was a shoe to be brought out for when you really want to look your best it is the Duca Del Cosma Churchill. These look and feel like a high-end brand and, with the classic brogue style, they will easily transfer to wearing them away from the course. The Churchill comes in either the dapper Cognac or Royal Blue colour combinations. We tried the former that are probably easier to match with trousers and, of all of the impressive Duca range, there’s a strong chance that these will be the ones that immediately catch your eye.
The blurb boldly suggests that they ‘offer a masterclass in golf shoe design and performance’ and it’s actually hard to disagree. The design and look of the Churchill is something else – Duca will only use leather from the very best tanneries, these are made from soft Italian Nappa leather – and the feel (and smell) reflect that. Straight out of the box they did feel on the heavyish side but they’re lighter when on. You would say that if you’re planning on 36 holes on the links then you probably wouldn’t get these out but that’s probably not the idea here. These are for that special round when you want to look your best.
Tech wise the Churchill features an Airplay IV outsole which they introduced in 2021. This features strategically-positioned functional nubs that are paired with an EVA cushioning system which provides a sturdy grip along with guaranteed comfort. If your feet are prone to dancing a little bit too much through the swing then these will really appeal as they are particularly solid. Also noteworthy are the recyclable heel and toe cap.
Even the laces are super stylish and there are a couple of options available to keep mixing your look up. This is a genuine high-end offering and they believe in outstanding customer service. With every purchase there is a note from the chairman with his personal email.
Another great touch is the Great Duca Trade-In where you can trade in any make of your old golf shoes and get £25 off your next purchase. They’ve partnered with Recyclatex, from April 1 to May 31, and they will distribute your old shoes to Africa, India and Eastern Europe which is great for the game and also makes your next purchase that bit more affordable.
