Wilson Staff Ci11 irons
Golf Monthly Senior Staff Writer Paul O'Hagan reviews the Wilson Staff Ci11 irons
GM verdict: The pleasing trend of incorporating forgiveness in a smaller head continues in the form of the Ci11 irons. The black head features a thin topline and frames the ball beautifully. The head is smart, without being intimidating at address. Even more impressive is that this good-looking head also offers plenty of forgiveness, thanks to the cavity design and the superb weighting. This Wilson offering should fit the bill for many golfers. But... the PVD finish requires more care and attention than most to keep the heads looking good. PGA pro verdict: A big improvement from the Ci9 irons. The finish is superb and the long irons are easy to shape, considering the forgiveness on offer. Thanks to the smart look at address, and the fact they?re easy to flight, these would suit a wide range of handicaps. I like that there isn?t too much offset in the short irons, but more in the long clubs where it?s needed. Test team rating: Performance - 4.5/5 Visual appeal - 4.5/5 Innovation: 4.5/5 Value: 5/5 Overall: 4.5/5
Why you can trust Golf Monthly
Key technology
Wilson research showed that 85 per cent of shots are struck between the centre and the toe. With this in mind, the Ci11 is designed to minimise club twisting to produce straighter shots. Weight is moved low and back in the head to improve stability, while a thin topline gives a compact look. A new PVD finish reduces glare.
Will suit: those seeking forgiveness in a neat, compact head.
