Hot Speed irons
Golf Monthly Senior Staff Writer Paul O'Hagan tests the Benross Hot Speed irons
GM verdict: This was one of the standout products from the impressive 2013 Benross range. The set manages to achieve a look that is smart at address without ?being too intimidating, so will appeal to any standard of player. Distance through the set is excellent, as is the consistency on offer everything you would want from a set of midsize irons. But... the different finishes mean you can't really make up a combination set with the shallow-cavity RIP Speed irons. PGA pro verdict: The Hot Speed irons performed beautifully on test, and would be an excellent option for many players thinking of upgrading their equipment. They produced a mid-to-high launch trajectory with the long irons, and a penetrating flight with the medium and short irons. They have a striking Black Pearl finish, and the deep cavity design, which provides a very high moment of inertia, aids consistency. Forgiveness over workability will suit many. Test Team Rating: Performance: 5/5 Visual appeal: 5/5 Innovation: 4/5 Value: 4/5 Overall: 4.5/5
Why you can trust Golf Monthly
Key technology:
The Hot Speed set is designed to appeal to a wide range of golfers, thanks to a combination of sleek looks at address and a number of features normally seen on game-improvement irons. These include perimeter weighting, a deep cavity and a slight offset. A Black Pearl finish offers a high-quality look behind the ball, as well as in the bag.
Will suit: players after a forgiving, midsize set of clubs.
