A course record-equalling 63 at the Australian PGA championship propelled Jarrod Lyle to the top of the leader board where he is joined by fellow Australian Mathew Goggin.

The pair are one shot clear of Paul Sheehan and two clear of six players on seven under which includes Rod Pampling, - winner of last week’s Australian Masters.

After thunderstorms saw play suspended on Thursday, Lyle was forced to complete round one on Friday, but finished with two further birdies before holing a further nine in round two on route to his superb 63.

"I think what happened to me last year was possibly the best thing that could have happened to me," Lyle said.

"Getting out there, playing bad, seeing what I have to do to succeed at that level and then coming back."

Thursday’s storms mean that six groups will need to complete their rounds on Saturday morning.
