Paul Casey out of first FedEx Cup event
Paul Casey has been forced to withdraw from this week's tournament in New Jersey with a lingering rib injury.
Paul Casey has been forced to withdraw from The Barclays Classic, starting in New Jersey this week, due to a lingering rib injury.
Despite intensive treatment and a cortisone injection, the injury which kept Casey out of the USPGA is still impeding his game too much to allow him to return. The injury - a tear and strain to the rib muscle - has now kept Casey out of a WGC event, a Major, and the opening leg of the FedEx Cup play-off which begins this week.
Casey, a three-time winner this season - in Abu Dhabi, Houston, and at Wentworth - will have to wait to add any further trophies to the cabinet.
The English world number three spoke to his official website about the injury: “It has been a really frustrating few weeks, but the injury has been responding to treatment and that should hopefully allow me to return to action.
“I will continue the treatment regime this week and prepare for the final playoff events,” added Casey, suggesting a return to the golf course is imminent.
