First Look – Odyssey White Hot XG 9
To begin Golf Monthly’s new First Look series we examine the Odyssey White Hot XG 9, based on a prototype that helped Phil Mickelson win the 2006 Masters.
Odyssey White Hot XG 9
Phil Mickelson worked with Odyssey?s Ron Hettinger to create the putter which helped him win the 2006 Masters and this years Players Championship. This toe-weighted, heel shafted, flanged blade with half-shaft offset is available in both right and left-handed in a range of lengths.
The White Hot XG 9 combines the modern White Hot insert with a traditional blade design. The alignment markings work really well when combined with an unconventional black line along the top edge. The offset is very noticeable at address but the putter sits beautifully. Odyssey?s White Hot multi-layer insert is tried and tested and still remains one of the softest feeling faces around.
A putter that will attract the eye of anyone who likes a classic design combined with the bonus of a modern soft feel.
