A new, premium professional golf tour will be launched on July 13 2009 when the 66 Pro Tour gets underway, with a first prize of £3,000 on offer.
The 66 Pro Tour will end in a grand tour finale and if the winner scores 66 or below, they will win an additional bonus prize. If not immediately won, this will roll over to the next event and continue accumulating, which adds an interesting twist to the competition.
The 66 Pro Tour is open to all professional golfers from the UK and overseas. A £50 deposit will secure a place (total entry cost £150) and there is no membership fee for 2009. Venues around the south east of England include Berkhamstead, East Sussex National and Remedy Oak.
Devised by ex-Challenge Tour player and pro golfer, Paul Gilbert from Maidenhead, Berkshire, the tour has been created to fill a gap in the market for a good quality tournament, appealing to competitive professionals.
Tour dates have been carefully planned to fit into the existing professional calendar and, with the exception of the final, are one-day events. Full details including the tour schedule and online entry form are available on 66protour.com.
