Tiger Woods update: bleak outlook
Fourteen-time major winner, Tiger Woods has not swung a golf club in nearly four months. He continues to recover from his back operations that took place in September and October, but says he has “nothing to look forward to.”
“There’s nothing I can look forward to, nothing I can build towards. Where’s the light at the end of the tunnel? I don’t know.”
Woods has had a total of three surgeries in the past 18 months to alleviate pain from a pinched nerve in his back. He is unsure when he will, or if he can, make a return to golf.
“I’ve no answer. Neither does my surgeon or physio. There’s no timetable.
“It’s different from the other surgeries I’ve had in the past. For nerves there are really no timetables.”

Woods has admitted he has spent a majority of his time playing video games because he is unable to pick up a club since the surgery. The 39-year-old’s physical activity is limited and he has not done any rehabilitation work on his back.
“I walk and I walk. I’m just walking, and that’s it,” said Woods.
This year he missed the cut at three of the four majors he played in. Even though he only participated in 11 events, he remains on 79 PGA Tour victories.
In 2014 Woods played in only seven tournaments, missing three months of the season after having another surgery for a pinched nerve in his back.
“For my 20 years out here I achieved a lot," he said. "I think pretty much everything beyond this will be gravy. If that's all it entails then I've had a pretty good run. But I'm hoping that's not it.
"I'm hoping I can get out here and compete against these guys. I really do miss it."
Woods, who hasn’t won a major since 2008, hopes he is still able to make the team for the 2016 Ryder Cup that he has been named one of the U.S. captain Davis Love III’s assistants.
He insists on returning to the game and resuming his career, “I’m hoping I can get out here and compete against these guys. I really do miss it.”
