The couple have been together for more than two years with McIlroy announcing the pair’s engagement over Twitter on New Year’s Eve in 2013, while they were in Sydney.

McIlroy added that sending out wedding invitations over the weekend made him aware that he was not “ready for all that marriage entails.”
He added: “I wish Caroline all the happiness she deserves and thank her for the great times we’ve had. I will not be saying anything more about our relationship in any setting.”
Caroline Wozniacki is yet to release a statement concerning the split, however, speaking at Wentworth this morning the two time major champion said the decision to end the engagement had been mutual.
McIlroy’s last post on Twitter shows the couple dining at Nobu Monte Carlo restaurant on May 18.
In April 2014 former WTA world number one, Wozniacki, acted as McIlroy’s caddie during the Par 3 Contest prior to the start of the 2014 Master Tournament at Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia.
The pair have always presented themselves as a sporting couple with Wozniacki acting as McIlroy’s caddie on several occasions and supporting him in events such as the 2014 Honda Classic at PGA National Resort in Florida.
McIlroy is due to start a pivotal season with the US Open at Pinehurst starting in less than a month on June 12.
