Leisurecorp, long-term partners with The European Tour and founders of the season long $10 million Race to Dubai, has called on the services of volunteers to help run the inaugural Dubai World Championship.
The event, which is due to be staged at Jumeriah Golf Estates in November, will see 60 of the world’s greatest golfers gather for the thrilling climax to the season.
Buddy Morin, a Dubai-based Canadian, has been appointed as Chief Marshall to overlook the small army of volunteers who will undertake a range of roles from scoring support to player assistance.
Morin will need to draw on his vast wealth of marshalling experience, spanning over four decades and covering many of the world’s most prestigious tournaments, in order to ensure the event runs smoothly.
Volunteers will receive a range of benefits for being a part of the event, including uniformed shirts and an invitation to attend the ‘thank you golf tournament’ to be held on the Greg Norman-designed Earth course following the Dubai World Championship.
Geoff Ogilvy leads the Race to Dubai Standings, but Angel Cabrera is up to third after winning his first Green Jacket at Augusta. Rory McIlroy lies fourth with Sergio Garcia losing ground in fifth spot.
