Aberdeenshire Council has received detalied plans for American businessman Donald Trump's proposed golf resort, which is to be developed on land at Menie House near Balmedie.
The Trump Organisaton has propsed the building of a championship standard golf course, a clubhouse, a 450 bedroom hotel, a golf academy and several other associated facilities. The further development of 950 holiday homes and 36 golf villas has also been proposed, and if the plans are approved by council members the Trump Organisation is predicting a total investment of around £1 billion and a target opening date of May 2009.
"Aberdeenshire warmly welcomes the Trump Organisation's interest in Aberdeenshire as the propsed site for its planned world class golf venue," said Aberdeenshire Council Chief Executive Alan Campbell on Monday.
"Such an investment could have the potential to deliver huge benefits to Aberdeen City and Shire. There will be a great deal of media and public interest in this exciting development but as the planning authority we must act with clear impartiality on the matter."
The application will be available for viewing by the public as soon as it has been registered and will also be able to be viewed on the council website, aberdeenshire.gov.uk. Pending assessments are the Enivoromental Impact Assessment and seperate surveys for transport and drainage issues, all of which will be crucial in the final decision made by council members.
