Former Ryder Cuppers Steve Richardson, Paul Way and Neil Coles were among some big names taking part in the 11th hole’s nearest-the-pin competition on the Donald Steel-designed Park Course. Richardson looked to have the job done, but journalist Colin Channon put his rescue club to ten feet at the testing 190-yard hole and claimed the title.
Any golfer that can better Channon’s effort during Launch Week will win a free round of golf on the Park Course. In addition, there are Callaway putters for the best shot each day, and the closest tee shot for the whole week attracts a prize of a luxury weekend at The Goodwood Hotel with all the trimmings.
Golf At Goodwood consists of The Downs Course, created by James Braid in 1914 as well as The Park Course – the clubhouse of which is the Goodwood Hotel that includes excellent dining facilities.
General Manager of Golf At Goodwood, Rob Greig, is expecting a busy year: "Golf At Goodwood is all about flexibility and as such, believe we have the complete range of golfing products, whether you are looking for membership of a fantastic golf club or just want to turn up and pay a green fee.”
