The International Series: The Season So Far And What's Next

It's been a thrilling start to the campaign, and with five elevated Asian Tour tournaments left on the schedule, there's still plenty to be decided.

It has been a closely-contested and globe-trotting International Series so far this year and we're not even halfway through the season yet.

The LIV Golf-backed elevated Asian Tour tournaments see the best of the Asian Tour contest in fields featuring top LIV Golf talents, and at the end of the season, the International Series Rankings leader will earn a golden ticket to the LIV Golf League.

An Indian debut

The International Series got underway at the end of January with the highly anticipated International Series India presented by DLF debut, where the spectacular and renowned Gary Player-designed DLF Golf and Country Club played host.

Then-reigning US Open champion and Crushers GC captain Bryson DeChambeau made his first ever professional start in India and attracted huge galleries, and the American contended for the title right up until the closing stages.

However, it was Ollie Schniederjans who triumphed with a score of 10-under-par as the former World No.1 amateur completed a remarkable comeback in winning his first title since 2016.

The result gave Schniederjans the early International Series Rankings lead and also an alternate spot on the LIV Golf League the following week in Riyadh, where he stepped in for the injured Phil Mickelson on HyFlyers GC.

DeChambeau finished four back in second-place, with fellow LIV Golf stars Joaquin Niemann and Abraham Ancer in a joint third.

Ortiz wins second title in Macau

The second event of the year was International Series Macau presented by Wynn, where Carlos Ortiz went on to win his second International Series title in another star-studded field.

Ortiz carded four rounds in the 60s, including a spectacular second-round 61, for a 22-under-par total and a three-shot lead to win ahead of former Masters champion Patrick Reed.

Three Open Championship spots were also on the line, with Ortiz, Reed and Jason Kokrak all qualifying for Royal Portrush.

It was agony for Sergio Garcia, who shot a closing 65 but missed out on qualifying by a single stroke. Luckily for the Spanish great, he would make it through via the newly introduced LIV Golf Open spot.

Herbert prevails in Japan

Another new destination on the 2025 International Series schedule was Japan, and Australia's Lucas Herbert went on to dominate proceedings at the International Series Japan presented by Moutai after a phenomenal 62 in the opening round at Caledonian Golf Club.

The Ripper GC man, who has wins on the PGA Tour and DP World Tour, finished five shots ahead of Korea's Younghan Song and home favourite Yuta Sugiura, courtesy of a 20-under-par total.

Herbert currently sits top of the International Series Rankings, in large part thanks to his superb victory in Japan.

2022 IS Rankings champion and former Iron Heads GC man Scott Vincent made his way to LIV Golf via The International Series, and he won his second title at International Series Morocco after an impressive display at Royal Dar Es Salam, which was hosting for the third time.

Vincent, the older brother of former Legion XIII player Kieran, finished four ahead of nearest challenger Danthai Boonma of Thailand with his 14-under-par total.

RangeGoats GC player Peter Uihlein, who won twice on the International Series in 2024, finished in a respectable T3.

What's next on the International Series?

There are five remaining tournaments on the 2025 International Series schedule, starting in Indonesia this week with the Jakarta International Championship.

Indonesia has hosted many Asian Tour events, and the Jakarta International Championship makes its debut with a strong field, featuring 2025 winners Ollie Schniederjans and Scott Vincent as well as a number of LIV Golf players.

Three weeks later will see the inaugural International Series Philippines presented by BingoPlus, where Major champions Dustin Johnson, Bubba Watson, Patrick Reed, Charl Schwartzel and Louis Oosthuizen will headline a star-studded field at Manila's Sta Elena Golf Club.

The prestigious Link Hong Kong Open at Hong Kong Golf Club will follow at the end of the month, with this year's champion set to earn a spot in both The Masters and The Open for the first time.

Patrick Reed won the title last year with an historic display - the 4Aces GC star carded just the second 59 ever seen on the Asian Tour.

The Texan is set to defend his crown this year in one of the strongest fields in the tournament's history, with fellow Major winners Bubba Watson, Louis Oosthuizen, Charl Schwartzel, Martin Kaymer and Graeme McDowell all confirmed along with home favourite Taichi Kho.

Another hugely prestigious event follows the very next week with the Moutai Singapore Open, which will be played at the glorious Singapore Island Country Club.

The $5m PIF Saudi International presented by SoftBank Investment Advisers has established itself in attracting one of the strongest fields in the game, and the season finale in Riyadh is set to feature another huge line-up of LIV Golf stars in November.

Riyadh Golf Club will once again host the action after making its LIV Golf debut this year with the season opener, which was won by Adrian Meronk under the lights.

Joaquin Niemann will be defending his title, which he won last year to capture the International Series Rankings.

2025 tournament champions Vincent and Schniederjans are well placed to push on in the Rankings race, along with in-form Thai star Danthai Boonma in fifth place.

With five tournaments left, a win or high finish in any of the remaining tournaments could prove key in the race for top spot and that coveted place on next season’s LIV Golf League - a life-changing prize for Vincent, Schniederjans, Boonma or any of the Asian Tour players who could leap up the rankings with a strong run of form.

We have just five tournaments left to find out who will top the standings and claim that coveted place on the 2026 roster.
