Scott Jamieson is a DP World Tour winner for the first time in almost 14 years after a two-shot win over Matthew Jordan at the Nexo Championship.

Previously, Jamieson’s only other DP World Tour success came at the 2012 Nelson Mandela Championship.

However, the Scot’s patience was rewarded as he won in his homeland at Trump International Golf Links in Aberdeenshire when he overcame a three-shot deficit with a five-under 67.

At the start of the final round, Jamieson was third on the leaderboard on six under, one shot behind Matthew Jordan, with Shaun Norris out in front on nine under.

It wasn’t long until the lead changed hands, with a flying start from Jordan, which included birdies at the first, third and seventh, seeing him leapfrog Norris.

However, Jamieson, playing in the final group with Norris and Jordan, remained in touch thanks to birdies at the fourth and seventh.

Jordan’s progress stalled with a double bogey at the ninth, and soon after, Norris, who thought he had played the front nine in even par, was dealt a crushing blow to his chances.

As he approached the 10th, it was confirmed he had been given a two-stroke penalty after being deemed to have improved his stance by removing a replaced divot at the fifth hole.

That dropped Norris down to T3, and with Jamieson suddenly in front by one, he took full advantage, doubling his lead with his third birdie in four holes at the 10th to move to 10 under.

That became a three-shot lead for Jamieson with yet another birdie at the 11th, and from there, he never seriously looked like relinquishing it.

A double-bogey at the 12th all but ended Norris’s chances, and though the gap between Jamieson and Jordan briefly became one after the leader bogeyed the 13th, he wasn’t to be denied.

The 42-year-old responded with his final birdie of the day on the 14th before seeing out his long-awaited victory with a series of pars, including a crucial up and down from a bunker at the 17th.

Following the win, for which he will receive prize money of $510,000, Jamieson said: ""Fourteen years, that's wild. It's just so tough, so hard to win. I was so patient all day... just can't believe I've won."
