Friends and colleagues from London Golf Club in Kent have completed the Virgin London Marathon in aid of the charity 'Children with Leukaemia.'
The marathon took place on April 25, bringing 11 friends, colleagues and associates of the London Golf Club together for the 26-mile challange.
The majority of the fundraising was collected at a golf day held at the club - which included an enticing auction - and it managed to raise £21,000. Some fantastic lots were auctioned off at the sale, with the sponsorship of the event in the hands of Club Wembley, William Hunt, Arden BMW, Eden Collection and The Kent Golf Club's members.
Austen Gravestock, the general manager at the golf club, was delighted by the success of the runners, saying: "I'm sure that I speak for all at LGC when I say how proud we all are of everyone's personal and team accomplishment."
Andy Shewbridge, the operations manager, commented: "It was much tougher than any of us expected but the crowds lining the streets made the atmosphere just amazing."
The total sponsorship fund is now at £25,000 and the team are hoping to increase this further before handing the cheque over to this great charity.
