75 COUNTY LOUTH
Architect: T Simpson 2006 position: 68 Stats: 6,716 yds; par 72; SSS 72 GF: €125 T: 00353 4 1988 1530 W: countylouthgolfclub.com You will receive a warm, Irish welcome at this traditional links situated 30 miles up the coast from Dublin.
There are lots of natural humps and hollows that you need to read well, and some great natural green sites which will test your short-game repertoire.
Indeed, the greens themselves have some wicked slopes and can be treacherous to negotiate at times.
One slight criticism would be that the routing of the holes means that three of the four par 5s occur in the first six holes and that you then get seven par 4s in a row from the 8th. SP
+ A proper, old-fashioned links upgraded to meet today’s demands - Not too many good views of surrounding scenery; unbalanced layout
