The Berkshire Red

40 THE BERKSHIRE – Red

Architect: Fowler 2006 position: 74 Stats: 6,452 yds; par 72; SSS 71 GF: £90-£125 T: 01344 621495 W: theberkshire.co.uk Opinion is divided on which course at The Berkshire is the better and certainly when viewed together they make for one of the best 36-hole offerings in the country.

In the end, we felt the Red to be the superior, more enjoyable 18 with its unusual layout featuring six par 3s, six par 4s and six par 5s that combine to make a round here immense fun with plenty of birdie opportunities.

There are many great stretches of holes on The Red, 1-4, 6-11 and 14-17.

For me the par 3s, with their variety of length and style, are outstanding and viewed together must rank as the best collection of short holes in the country. MH

+ Very visitor/society-friendly; sporting layout; superb par 3s; great lunch - The 18th is a weak finishing hole Enter your review of The Berkshire Red course below
