Sun Mountain Kube Travel Bag
Sun Mountain has been at the forefront of golf bag innovation for 30 years, introducing us to lightweight nylon stand bags and many other well-thought-out products.
The Kube travel bag is another excellent innovation that not only serves its main purpose of protecting your clubs well in transit, but also allows you to collapse it down to a neat size smaller than the average cabin bag (23 x 33 x 38cms) when not in use via its clever foldaway system.
Editor's Choice 2020
Travelling golfers often set off in slight trepidation, worried that their expensive pride and joys may not make it safely through baggage-handling, so thankfully the Kube’s innovative design doesn’t sacrifice that vital ingredient of protection in transit.
The two sturdy plastic half-shells into which it folds away form one layer of protection, while a reinforced padded area adds a further level at the all-important clubhead end.
Thoughtful features galore
The Kube also features rubberised pull and carry handles, easy-glide wheels for smooth manoeuvring and an overall weight of less than 7lbs. The main fabric is a ballistic-style nylon for enhanced durability, which is suitably reinforced in key wear areas. Inside, there are two pockets for extra clothing or shoes, plus two interior buckles to secure your bag as well as possible. Two adjustable external straps ensure that nothing moves about once fully sealed.
We’ve used the Kube on our travels and found that it does a great job in transit, while offering an ideal storage option if you’re not blessed with the biggest of hotel rooms or car boots. It looks good too and comes in a wide range of classic and more vibrant hard-shell colours – the latter no bad thing at the baggage carousel when there are lots of golfers on your flight and all the black travel covers look pretty similar.
